if the noise starts just as the clutch bites in neutral (input shaft starts turning) then you have input shaft bearing wear or pitting. normally the noise is gone completely when the clutch is fully pressed & any gear is selected if the noise can be varied just by putting slight pressure on the ...

Re: can some one tell me what turbo engine this is

its a 420 bubble nasp lump, the block will be already drilled/tapped & plugged for the turbo feed. i would bolt a t25 on & run 6-7psi or swap the pistons for some good used items or get some forgies as standard size. k6 'box has nice ratios so you could chuck in a torsen to make a pretty goo...

sounds to me like an earth is missing.

have ALL the slam panel earth wires been re-fitted?? there are about 5 iirc

if you just add some extra temporary earths around the place you may find the problem.

1.75 top (compression)
1.50 middle (scraper)

fwiw,
piston sizes are always quoted at the bore size, they are in fact machined smaller to allow for expansion.

different piston/bore materials will need different clearances. an 85mm piston will measure LESS than 85mm.

Re: rattly actuator

if its just a small rattle & the wastegate is not fubar, you can just 'tweak' the actuator bracket with a tyre lever to get a little more tension on the rod.

the l series DOES have rubber cam belts, but its not a fortune to have them replaced.
