The only thing that remains to be seen is whether their new show, on a commercial station has the budget and editorial freedom they had on the BBC.

16" Ti wheels? The 623 GSi model may have had 16" in a less racy style. The >1996 800 sterlings had 16" wheels in a plain style. I think the steelies only went to 15", though.

I saw the election results for Northamptonshire - conservative in every constituency with about 2/3 of those at 50-60% of total vote. Democracy in action!

Re: The Election Results
That's what I figured might happen with the last government. Whether it did or not might be a debate for another day. The Tories seem to have responded immediately to the support UKIP got in the election. Points taken on alternative options to first-past-the-post. It's something I have a niggling fe...

Re: The Election Results
I agree with Sheaf that proportional representation seems fairer on the face of it, but leaves a huge question regarding local representation and MP allocation. Regarding National Service, whether it's a good thing of not I think we've had quite enough of youth self-expression. I'm guess the dominan...

Re: The Election Results
It turns out the Conservatives would still have won under a proportional representation: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2015-32601281 UKIP would have done far better, though. As it stands the SNP have a lot of MPs for a relatively small proportion of the total vote. Labour just wasn't credible e...

Re: UKIP's top brass... a man of true Class
A couple of little bits of food for thought that came to my attention lately: Privatisation of the NHS Definitely a worrying thing, although there's always been a certain amount of it privatised (pharmacies, opticians). It turns out 6% of the NHS budget is currently outsourced to private companies. ...

Re: UKIP's top brass... a man of true Class
The standard of living has gradually risen from decade-to-decade in a lot of countries. Yes, as a country we aren't that badly off if we're honest. Much better than many people in the world. IIRC we don't even pay that much tax compared to some other Western countries. Agreed on the comments about h...

Re: UKIP's top brass... a man of true Class
The big con of this tory government is to have been able to blame the worldwide currency collapse onto the Labour government! What makes me suspicious is that Labour didn't even deny it, They certainly weren't responsible for what you rightly call a global event, but they did know it was going to h...

Re: UKIP's top brass... a man of true Class
Pity Labour wouldn't go far enough, they should do what the French have done with respect to actually taxing the wealthiest in society properly - the ones who don't want to pay can fcuk off out of the country! Apparently that is exactly what has happened in France - in response to higher taxation a...

That sounds right. You'd be liable if incorrect fitting caused the failure or if you supplied the clutch as suitable for what he did with it. It sounds like neither is the case. You might want to point that out without rubbing it in and hurting his pride and then offer a compromise solution. Assumin...

Re: And you though you had high insurance quotes
There are loads of roads with a 60mph speed limit where you'd crash into the ditch doing much more than 30
Fast cars can go slowly, but slow cars can only go slowly. It's a bit like giving loaded guns to kids and telling them they can point them but must not pull the trigger

Re: And you though you had high insurance quotes
If you're young, inexperienced and prone to drive enthusiastically then FWD and the slower then better for safety. You will crash whatever you're driving so better to do it at a lower speed. Also, a car that doesn't grip well makes for a shallower learning curve in car control. A shitbox on skinny t...

Interesting to hear BP predicting this could last for years. I didn't think any party had enough cash to sit it out that long. It's not just shale and tar sands that are unprofitable at current oil prices, lots of deep-water stuff is as well. Most North Sea production is also unprofitable. OGUK are ...

Re: Oil Under $50 a barrel
Down to $45/barrel. Several petrol stations in the midlands have reportedly reduced prices to just under £1/litre. At the moment this is estimated to be only a marketing ploy as the price of wholesale unleaded is currently around 99p/litre. However, average petrol price is predicted to break the £1 ...

True. I was thinking of when Blair went kissing Gadhafi's boots... The Saudis are/were suspected of financing Osama Bin Laden's operation and more lately of ISIS, hence I wouldn't have thought the U.S. would have much to do with them. The Economist article does not appear to support the theory of a U.S. led conspiracy to screw Russia and Iran. It's hard to imagine the U.S. and the Saudis co-operating on anything... The summary of the article is: Iran & Venezuela = stuffed U.S. = badly hit Russia = slightly hit Saudis = Overal...

Oil Under $50 a barrel
Yep, this week the price passed this milestone and is currently trading at $49. Back when it was $60 the lowest U.S. price I heard of was $1.77/gal, which works out at 27p/litre. My local Tesco was at £1.09 yesterday. Fuel duty is £0.58p and VAT at 20% So the actual fuel price is 29p/litre. Prices a...
