null byte is right. As someone who re-sells web hosting and email services, ive had complaints come in that are very real and can end in that sub account being suspended, based on just 1 complaint, on an email that was considered SPAM. Its unlikely to happen, but the call could go in against your fr...

i guess so. the straight 6 has been tried and tested, in various guises, for many years, and as such is pretty reliable engine. i only had 1 split small water hose on mine, otherwise relatively trouble free (apart from the heater pump motor!) the earlier v8 engines had some problems like timing chai...

Re: Been offered a new job not sure what to do
Money isnt everything. I just gave up a recent new job because the job sucked, and took an 8k drop on a similar salary. Was unemployed for a week and then went back to the place i had only just left. I went for the new job initially because i wanted to 'expand' etc, but turns out in a bigger company...

used to be skint all the time, once you get into the habbit of saving and not spending, its easy enough to turn things around. 1 car is more than enough tbh, aslong as youve had the one you want at some point, then you can move on. I recall having 2 nackered rovers at one point, no wonder i was skin...

also, writing to any flash based media (USB stick / SSD) as a temporary file, would leave traces on the flash chip due to wear levelling, but the chip would need to be unsodlered from the stick and probed (oo er). So if you saved your passwords in a file on the stick, then encrypted it, then deleted...

the thing with using the same password all over is fairly scary. When you type your password into rovertech, how do you know how its stored? it could be easily stored in plaintext for all the see. Not all websystems are secure, and if the password stored isnt hashed, and someone gets hold of the dat...

rover 600 alarm ecu + fob(s)
Hi All, Dads alarm is playing up, but so are the fobs, cant be coincidence considering fob is like new and batteries are fine, so will replace both and see what the crack is. So thats from a late 600 (618/620/620ti/623), fobs + ecu in the right hand side of the boot (dont need keys). Must be confirm...

Is this an early car (1 button fob) or a late car (2 button fob)? I need a late car.
Do you have a working fob, and the matching ECU from the right hand side of the boot?
Cheers

Wireless? Change the wireless channel - you might be getting interference. Otherwise, upgrade the firmware to the router - it'll be a speedtouch router, and I upgraded my 'Be' router to a version of the firmware above what was recommended, as I kept suffering connection drops. It's perfect now. Jus...

Re: Back from the dead 75 CDT! Won't start tho...
if the battery has been flat for ages, it could well be mullered. Check the voltage when you crank. If it drops very low, then the batt is the problem. Otherwise, im guessing you could assume some immobiliser issue or similar? You could try giving the starter motor a whack with a hammer incase its s...

yeah ive had dodgy ps2 mice and keyboards cause pc not to boot propperly, or just randomly crash... you might want to download the latest wireless card drivers and nvidia drivers. tbh, ive never had an nvidia card mis-behave in any hardware setup, unlike the flakey ATI jobbies! ive also noticed from...

Re: installing graphics card slows wireless internet connection
technically, shouldnt make any difference. Its always worth installing the latest drivers for nvidia, they are a big download though. some nvidia cards draw a lot of power, if the card has a HD style power connector on it, use it with the psu, to stop it drwaing too much power through the mobo, whic...

Re: HELP!! New pc build just died.
try a new psu tbh, they are usually the most common thing to die in a PC. And the new stup will only be drawing more power than the old, probably just pushed it over the edge... Sometimes ive seen psu's go 'funny' and all thats required is unplugging everythign the psu is connected to, unplug from m...

assuming youve done the following? gone into main bios, enabled RAID on the sata ports your using. subsequently rebooted, gone into raid bios. set up your logical drive (1x raid 5, comprising 3 connected physical disks etc) 'initialise' this (might do it automatically in simple mobo raid setups) set...

Re: PC upgrade advice / components wanted
what os are you using?
which mobo did you go for?
had no trouble myself installing 64bit win7 straight onto raid0 on nvidia chipset system.
Assuming you have set up the raid in the raid bios, and initialised it / set it bootable, see what happens when you boot from the DVD.

get to b&Q, and get some threaded bar (its the right thread), and a bag of nuts. for 2 quid you have enough to make all new studs for all 5 places.
you might be lucky with the gasket depending if its the metal one or not.

Re: Minimum Spec for HD/Blueray
if you just want to play back HD, then the atonm stuff is fine, as long as you have the built in ION nvidia shizzle. The atom is fine, even single core, for playing back HD. In 'accelerated' setups such as with nvidia GFX cards, the decoding of the mpeg stream is handled purely on the nvidia graphic...
