DiamondBack tyres

Post by mike88 »

Should be banned. They are the worst tyres i've ever used and are dangerous. Just about make it around a corner in the dry but in the wet you've no chance. 15/20mph on a wet corner the backend lets go massively. Avoid roundabouts if possible.

Got Goodyears on the front, had Wanli's on the back until i got a flat and needed to change it that day (screw in sidewall  ) The wanli's was amazing compared to these shitty crappy things, even had nangkangs on the back which could actually grip on a wet road.

I actually get nervous coming up to a corner in the wet these things are so bad. Pressures have all been checked and are fine. Nothing changed except the back tyres and now i had massive oversteer. No fun on a busy roundabout with cars/vans etc next to you.

Yes i know pay for what you get but these was cheap and i needed them that day. Other budgets have been fine on the rear as i dont go crazy round corners but always have good tyres up fornt.

Tyre Brand: Diamondback
Model: Unknown
Your Car / Power: MKIV Golf 2.3 V5 10v / 163bhp
Tyre Size: 225/40/18
Miles received from Tyre: Gave up on them after 4k
Dry Performance: Ok
Wet Performance: Dangerous!
Review Notes: Got them with a set of alloys. Obviously very cheap. Dry grip was ok, nothing special. Couldn't take roundabouts at more than 15mph in the wet. Felt like you where on ice!

Pretty sure i had some on my old Ti on the front (got them off ebay) they didnt seem too bad on the front if im honest, but i had better tyres on the back (falkens iirc).

Ah well, ill just buy wanlis or Nankanks for the back

The only time I've span a car was when I had Vredesteins on the front and Nankangs on the rear. Doing about 25mph on a very wet roundabout, the rear let go in a big way. Tried to catch it but no joy and ended up doing a 270º spin. Not good with big railings approaching!!

I swapped them over after that and ran with the best tyres on the rear, makes sense really as understeer is safer than oversteer.
