new insurance group ratings, 1 to 50...what is a 220 turbo?

Post by Patrick Church »

Hi All,
as title, from Jan 2011 all insurance companies have to use the new 1 to 50 insurance group ratings, not the old 1 to 20.

The 220 turbo was a group 17, does anyone know what it is now?

Thanks

The full list is here http://www.thatcham.org/abigrouprating/index.jsp?

just select the manufacturer and and click submit and it will list every car and its group, though the coupe turbo has not been regrouped in the list but others models are

I'd expect to roughly double give or take

This is just ballbiting stupid. It's just a new way to screw us all over while we're suddenly going 'insurance group whatnow?'

Mine was 17 and is now 34. I'd imagine the coupe will be around that. Hopefully it's a good thing as it's much further away, proportionally, from the top group.

No.. the old 1-20 group system was antiquated.. the new groupings allow for many new models of car and varients of those models.

Also, it is not insurance companies screwing people over as such, although I firmly believe the whole industry should have tighter regulations, it is the fraudulent claims, cash for claims scams, PI claims and bodyshops charging to much which is causing the crippling insurance price increases.

Beleive it or not, the UK's insurance industry is actually running an an average 130% loss. No insurers are making money (I'm sure your hearts are bleeding :P )

Well my premium only increased by £43 in December from changing from my Mk3 GTI 16v Anniversary (old ins grp 15) to my turbo coop in old ins grp 17. So I'm not complaining at that :)
