Who runs their MG-R as a daily?

Post by black_sunrise »

As per title really, i was curious how many of us on here run our MG's or Rovers everyday. I personally dont as i want to keep it in good nick, keep the miles down and partly due to their rarity and in the hope one day the 220's will actually go up in value lol

chucked a poll in for good measure

comment if you like to elaborate.

My Ti's my daily driver. Got her @18 mo ago with 80k ish on the clock. Just ticked over 96k mark.

Don't know how long I'll end up keeping her as start a new job in 4 weeks and will be home based, so she won't get much use.

I'd say its more of a reason to keep it as it'd be a good reason to let your hair down when you need a break from work.

My 420 GSiT clocked over 203,000 miles the other day and is still my main motor.

My coupe on the other hand is not used as a daily motor.

I'm another of those poor souls who only ever owns one car, so my Vitesse is my commuter, shopper, taxi, the lot!

Since 1999, I've owned only Rovers. I owned my 618Si from 99-06, the longest I've owned any motor. The 50k I put on it in that time was also the highest mileage I'd put on a car, until my current Vitesse (2007- ) beat that earlier this year. I bought it with 82k and it's done 136500 now. It's been the best car I've ever had, by a mile, and I dread the day I finally have to donate it to the Museum Of Transport (or sell it to webuyanycar.com for 50 quid)...

T16 ZR Daily for me, albeit not one of the older Rover's but the same engine regardless. Survived 3 years of daily 80 mile commutes in rush hour traffic and very rarely gets more work than general maintenance. Who wants more than that?

Not currently but have done in the past.

Used to run both my Montegos and the 416 as a daily driver. Never run the coupe as a daily as I've always had a company car to use.

If I had to again I wouldn't have any problems running a product of MG-R on a daily basis.

Use my metro GTi every day. Car's are there to be driven, not tucked up in a garage doing nothing imo.

Bang on, roveboy. There's nothing sadder than a 10 year old motor with 3000 miles on it, brick-hard suspension bushes creaking and groaning, belching black smoke out of it's carbon choked engine, paint dull as dishwater.

Drive it. Wash it. Service it. Repeat.

Used to run my 214, then the coupe an then the 25 as daily drivers doing around 14k a yr, 25 was the newest and most unreliable of the lot! Traded that in and got the Mondeo as my everyday smoker.
