Re: top gear
quote of the show, "here are the guys from my local takeaway".
Comedy seemed plastic and rehearsed.
Got the feeling Matt thought Evans is a pr@ too.
No introduction to the rest of the staff.
Little audience participation.
like the motocross but hated the yank that can't drive.
Ramsey was on because he'll do anything for a pay cheque
challenge was pointless.
Overall 4/10

Re: top gear
It was average, Chris Evans voice grinded on me he done my head in. I actually preferred Matt.......
Re: top gear
Every club I am a member of all say the same thing, Matt is better than Chris or Matt should be lead presenter....
I've not seen it yet, as I don't have an amazon subscription, but it doesn't sound like I missed much

Re: top gear
It was on council tv, and should be on the iplayer if you wanted to watch it.ZSx wrote:

I thought Chris was trying to be somewhere in between clarkson and hammond, about an 85 / 15 split. I was also as disappointed as I thought I'd be. Waste of an hour really. It didn't seem to flow very well, the studio sound wasn't right and as mentioned, a totally pointless challenge.
I'll still probably watch next weeks episode, simply due to the fact that there's nothing else better to do on a Sunday eve. It's probably something that will be on in the background while I'm doing something else.

Re: top gear
I found that they were trying to be clarkson, May and Hammond.
I was always comparing them and it doesn't work.
Clarkson was and is funny, Chris Evans has always been an annoying ginger *sniff* I love u!, ever since the big breakfast, then nobbed billy piper. So still a ginger *sniff* I love u!.
Roll on when their predecessors show is on, I'm sure it will be a hit.

Re: top gear
Did not enjoy it. I know its early days but I don't see Chris Evans taking to the roll, wrong front man trying too hard. Matt surprisingly comes across quite natural and seems to work well in the show.
I would prefer to see Chris Harris involved more in the main show he has a frantic personality that suits his frantic driving style.lol

Even Rory Reid didn't do a bad job.tomcat wrote:Thought Chris Harris was good on the iPlayer extra gear
IMO they tried to play it safe. They've brought in big names and copied the format verbatim. Unfortunately it doesn't work. What they've forgotten Clarkson and May were (and still are) motoring journalists and know how to talk and write about cars. The dynamic between Clarkson, Hammond and May evolved naturally. Evans and LeBanc just seems forced to me.
They should have taken a bigger risk and changed the format and focused more on cars. Maybe giving the reigns to someone like Chris Harris. Sure it probably wouldn't fit the "Entertainment" category as well but it would find it's audience and eventually evolve. Can you imagine a show with Harris, Tiff and Sabine competing against each other om track?

Re: top gear
found that one slightly better! Still don't like Evans, feels like he's trying to be funny but he isn't.
Re: top gear
I'd agree, it wasnt bad. To be fair it took the previous presenters a few shows to really gel as a team so who knows.
Either way, good entertainment for Sunday evening

Re: top gear
Clarkson is a massive cobbler and the BBC abstained from getting rid of him for far too long, there's no way he's coming back after all the sh!t he pulled. Besides, Amazon are catering to his every whim so why would he go back? Its about time the BBC learned that they don't need to waste millions upon millions to retain a few celebrities (and senior managers while they're at it), and they won't be able to afford it anyway under who ever the next Tory PM will be.
