That said, there are some early Mk3 216 cars with Honda lumps in them, but they were all automatic, AFAIK.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i never realised that some mk3s had the honda engine i thought they where all the CVT type. But
Wouldnt this mean it would be easier to fit a B16/B18 to a mk3 using these as a start?Bubble 200's NEVER had honda lumps fitted to them from factory.
Only mk2 bubble 416Autos used them(with 2 or 3 different engine types definately 3 different cam belt types but only remember seeing 2 different cam covers)
Yup 96ish is about the change point when Honda lumps stopped being used in SAXXW cars.

When BMW took over, it was bye bye honda. BM obviously made Rovers decisions for them as the deal Rover had with Honda was a joint venture arrangement. I think it would have been very different for Rover today if BM hadn't have taken over.
Shame really....

Yeah more than likely bankrupt.
It makes total financial sense to use the K series as it was Rovers own engine. No point paying for another manufacturers engine. Using someone elses engines also means less profits made from parts and servicing of engine components.

As long as it was profitable, in the future, we can all look back at our defunct motor industry and console ourselves with the cheery thought that bmw once made Rover profitable
... for a select few.
Thank you bmw - for nothing !
