Just search on google for M10 tap size, should bring up a few tables with loads of values for different thread sizes

k & t series rover engines have m10x1.50 threads on the exhaust manifold (standard coarse pitch)

helicoil tap drill size would be 10.40mm or 13/32" iirc

tap is a special size to suit the insert, it should come with the kit.

edit you have just bought inserts.
do a search for the tap spec

For a more permanent repair, Timeserts are much better, but a lot more expensive. Used to repair rocker cover threads on BMW motorcycles with Timeserts and never had any probs with them, which is more than I could say for helicoils (at least for that application).

Yep you're always best to buy a kit. At least you know the break-off tool is going to be right. Also if you were to buy all the bits separate it would probably end up costing more that the kit would.

The taps are funny sizes usually they are an "insert" size.

It's the tap and the drill that are the expensive bit of a kit. The helicoils themselves cost pennies each.

what engine are you helicoiling?
that kit is a m10x1.25 fine pitch.

m10x1.50 standard pitch is needed if you are working on a K or T series.

Could get around it by getting 1.25 pitch studs and nuts etc.
