My point is this: I took a gamble buying the car but im glad I did. Although the handling isnt great the straight line grunt is & evertime I driver her I smile. I hope the rest of you get the same satisfaction!

Disgruntled Audi A6 2.0T Driver..
Coming off a roundabout earlier today I noticed an '06 Audi A6 sitting on my bumper, even though my rear screen is plastered with "child on board" sticky things (child was not on board at present). I fvcking hate tailgaters & the part of dual carriage way we was on went on for about 2 miles. There was a car in the N/S lane matching my speed & the Audi flashed me. I nailed it & pulled away from the bloke up to the first roundabout, where he proceeded to sit on my bumper. Really p1ssed off now I threw her into the bends & for the 1st time since owning the barge I really let her have it, red lining her & basically thrashing the nuts out of the engine. 2 minutes later the Audi caught up & gestured me to lower my windows as we pulled up at some lights. "What the bloody hell you got under there?" The *sniff* I love u! asked me. "Standard 2.0 Turbo", I replied. "NO WAY! Dont take the tripe n onions!" was his answer as he tried to pull away, then stalled.
My point is this: I took a gamble buying the car but im glad I did. Although the handling isnt great the straight line grunt is & evertime I driver her I smile. I hope the rest of you get the same satisfaction!

I did that to a CTR last night, he was hammering it everywhere, and I jsut sat behind him not fussed. His face was priceless when he saw an L reg Rover when he went to turn off.

Thats what i'm talking about. Happend when I visited my local McDonalds drive thru, a few kids were in the car park, They must have heard the dump valve as I pulled up. I had 3 fella's looming up asking me if "it was a turbo mister?". Funny.

It happens all the time! Trouble with modern cars id that they are so very heavy. Killed an acquaintances brand new Golf GTI the other day. I pointed out that we have the same power, but my car is a lot lighter.
Almost every day someone has a go at my car thinking its a tarted 1.6, every time they get a shock.
If you actually look at the official figures for our Rovers and check them against modern cars its shocking how many so called fast cars are slower!

If someone tailgates me, I slow down... if it's on a dual carriageway in the fast lane, when the traffic clears, I pull over, then as he pulls level with me, I match his speed for a few mins as he struggles to pass. Then, foot to the floor, and watch the poor sod pull in behind me.

Trouble with this is after its all over they resume sitting on your bumper. Really, its as if they don't really get it.calibrax wrote:If someone tailgates me, I slow down... if it's on a dual carriageway in the fast lane, when the traffic clears, I pull over, then as he pulls level with me, I match his speed for a few mins as he struggles to pass. Its quite a simple message, My car is faster than yours, I do not wish to drive it flat out, either pass or if you won't (or can't) please sit the hell down and stop driving like a p3n1s.
I think they get confused by the badge -- "but... its a rover.... can't...be..fast..... can't under..stand....brain...hurts..."
If I can't get or be bothered to get past someone I drop back and cruise a few car lengths behind. For one thing sitting on sombodies rear is really tiring apart from being annoying and dangerous.

Funny thing about a loud dump valve (on mine when I bought it; not any more though)...every boy-racer under 21 seems to want a go as soon as they hear it.Thats what i'm talking about. Probably only stayed on mine for a week before I took it off, but quickly I found it quite irritating sitting at lights with some pre-pubescent moron revving the nuts off their 1.1 Saxo beside me.
With a shagged gearbox, I was never likely to bother responding. Wonder how many posts there are on chavracer.co.uk claiming a 1.1 Saxo with a K&N, a drain-pipe exhaust and a huuuge sun-strip can whup a Rover turbo

that really pisses them off.... most people get the message...they back off and the speed limit resumes.
Same here... I was doing about 15mph down a 30mph road the other day when a merc decided to take a close look at my spoiler. He soon got the message and backed off.
All I get trying it on with my car is stupid chavs in shopping trolley cars which is fairly handy because I can show them up easily. I dont get why they try though... if they get whooped my 1.6, bearing in mind it's the slowest of the coupes, why try at all? They had no way to tell it wasn't a 2.0T.

Same as mine.. it looks like a Rover with wheels (your wheels are worth more than your car they often shout)..
Funny that under the induction roar, exhaust noise, dump valve toosh (and small gearbox whine) i can't hear them...

Yes, they don't like it up 'em and I'm afraid I try to educate them as to why in this way with my cars:

At the next set of red lights, the number of other drivers who simply don't believe me when I tell them that my car is bog standard I've lost count of. They simply think I'm lying and that includes when using the silver MG Montego Turbo in my Signature. They REALLY don't like it up 'em with that...Good eh ...

And you complain about Evo's driving at 60mph on the motorway!Sheaf wrote:I was doing about 15mph down a 30mph road the other day when a merc decided to take a close look at my spoiler. He soon got the message and backed off.
Mick, get some vit sport suspension on there and you'll find they handle as well as they go
My car is so awesome that it surprises me even though I drive it every day. I think it's because I drive quite sedately 95% of the time. When I do open it up it's a pleasent surprise just how well it picks up and goes. TBH half throttle and changing up at 4000rpm is usually enough to see off most cars that bother me.

Don't forget the steering rack is "quicker" on a Vit Sport...surprisingly someone you're visiting to collect an exhaust from soon just so happens to have a steering rack available
Have heard they are an absolute pig to get out though...
