when i was looking to insure the GSi, i found Flux was the only company that would give me a competitive quote. Unlike Chris Knott who laughed

Ph you guys have a choice atleast. Try modded Jap import under 25, i found ONE company.

If your going fully comp its not generally bet to pay cheapest IMO, cos you will get cheap service (general rule of thumb)

Knott are ok for past 21. Insurance market is changing massivly though, Flux laughed at Grant Archers DOHC D16 Coupe yet were quite happy when i insured a VTEC version only 6months before :?

Im 21 now so it sould come down on some of the quotes i received last month. I've tried flux, they said errrrr no.

Its only a mildly modded 1.6 rover coupe, anyone would think it was a cossie the $$$$ they're asking for!

DR10, never a big help.
Excuse me, im just going to kick myself and cry........ :(

I had a right bugger of a job getting a cheaper quote then I already had with existing company, so decided to stay with the company I am with. Knott laughed at me and were very rude on the phone. I gave him all the info, he tapped away and went....

Knott: No
Me: Why?
Knott: coz you are 20 and drive a coupe
Me: and.... why is that then??
Knott: coz you are 20 and drive a coupe mate *chuckle*
Me: Bye :x

I rang bout 9 companies and were ranging from extortionate to over priced.

Good luck

Grant

As always, phone as many companies as you can, you may be shocked with what someone quotes you.

Myself, Churchill were the best, £800 fully comp with breakdown protected ncb etc etc.. Oh yes yes yes yes..

What would you call extortionate?
The mods are in "my specs"
I wouldnt call it highly modified but i really need to tell them about every little mod just to be sure, im getting the same quotes for the coupe modded as a vitesse turbo sport in standard form! :o

Mmmmmm vitesse turbo.... :D :)

quotes ranging from 1600 to nearly 3k. Which is ridiculous on a 1600cc, the matter is its classed as a "higher risk" vehicle being a coupe and all. As J says insurance seems to vary big stylee and some companies quote silly prices. It pays to shop around, but I don't think there is one company that will be cheap for everyone as there are a lot of factors to account for.

Mods done are:

suspension
wheels
full leathers
mk3 dash
strut brace
engine conversion
induction kit
4-2-1 maniold
full s/s exhaust inc de cat
re mapped ecu running custom chip

thats bout it I think, Some things are declared some arent yet, but dont really wana say who with and how much on a public forum...sorry.

Its not too bad, not as expensive as those quotes that I listed previously though :)

remember his car is a group 14 car so I should imagine a fair bit more expensive than the 25.

I just tried a quote by tesco for 1.8VVC 1997 Coupe comes up at £1031. Fully COMP!

21 / 2years NCB

Chris Knott have insured me on a 2l Turbo with agreed power output of 310bhp for a 1997 Coupe at £1800 TPFT (based on my current details - 20 / 1yrs ncb). Come my renewal in december they have said it will be around £1500 mark.

Not sure why the dont want to quote you.

Chris Knott gave me the cheapest quote for my cars last year, this year I couldn't be bothered to shop around so just kept the direct debit going!

However I'm paying the same premium on my 420 nasp as I am my 420 turbo - £430 FC.
