hi lads could anyone tell me what insurance group a 2.0GSI(3 door) is or what it would cost extra/less than a 2.0 coupe

I should imagine the hatch will cost you slightly less than the coupe. Coupe's are expensive because of what type of car they are, sports coupe = big insurance. base model 1.6 is a group 14 car, and the 2.0 Turbo being a group 17 car

It all depends on who you are with. Simplest way to find out is to ring up for quotes yourself. We dont know your driving record, your location and how many NCB you have so can't really answer your question directly. :)

im 21 no ncb low crime area and i got three points. but i've been on my dads insurance since i was 17 and have been give a discount for this (performance direct if anyones interested)

The GTI, GSI thing has been mentioned before, despite the listed insurance group GSI, GTI bumps up the insurance with some company's.
Could be that your local joy rider isn't too clever and will take anything with 3 letters on the boot, because it's obviously faster than the one with only 2 letters.

Could be insurance co shorthand, GTI + young driver = road, sky, road, sky, hedge, sky, farmers field.

there was about 3% increase in inusrance costs going from the 216gti twincam to the 820 turbo, thats how much of a bump up it is just for the GTi badge :(

Plus the insurance companies think that only the old codgers buy 800's and are therefor the more responsible drivers. Also, Rover dropped the GTi for the GSi notation and I think that fooled a few more companies. Now had Rover produced an 800 GTI Turbo (nice ring to it I know), I doubt if any company would have touched it with a barge pole.

Turbo hearse! If its real, I never seen one really either, looks kinda good for an estate :)

The Honda equalivant of the 216 GTI is 3 groups lower, same performance (same car even) no GTI badge, much cheaper. The whole system is very strange. You can get a IG 2 car with 85bhp now
