Engine backplate (any have a pic of this as im not sure what it is?)

Chassis and body welding, It will twist itsself apart in a very short time.

Its a Rag top, 30% less stiffness, mine has suffered from chassis twist n the form of breaking the windscreen sealing.

The coupe is hardly a stiff car though.

Is the rear subframe the same on the 1.6K then?

Oh I have some shafts too :)

Hmm thats stange my mates had a turbo in his for around 2 years and no problems what so ever. he takes it to pod and everything and its only standard chassis. I would of said they were stronger than coupes due to extra strengthening in the sills

I would agree too, the coupe as stiff as a paper bag. Your not going to be running the power of a Rover 400 either. A car thats biggest engine was a 140bhp T16 and that has no front engine mount.

Ps my inbox isnt full now

I remember Mark saying on here that his cab is a lot stiffer than his coupe was. Jack it up and it doesn't twist, while the coupe did.

The coupe doesnt even lift up, it kind of moulds around the jack :P

I does if you use the sill instead of the jacking points... (I've seen it done to another car, despite my objection  )

You need mounts and also the cambelt mount that bolts to the block is different, again I have the metal 200 engine mount that bolts to the block too.

Your gonna have to come over and see what I have one day :)

You WILL need both subframes, I've had to change both on the Tourer (1.6K originally) Oh and here's a very handy hint! Have a look at the bulkhaed, see if there's a metal bar running across it with brake pipes clipped to it, if there is, remove it BEFORE trying to fit 220 subframe  Yes it gets in the way, the rear mount fouls it which you can't see while your underneath scratching your head as to why it don't fit

I am slowly getting the impression that it's an awful lot of work. Why not get a N2O system on it for the occasional times you need extra whizz.

Like i said in your other thread http://www.rovertech.net/forum/viewtopi ... c&start=25 might be worth looking at some sort of strengthening? or at least a strut brace i would have thought that the cabs would have been stronger too due to no roof, unless rover400turbos' and my mates cabs were already bent??

Well it's not an afternoons work put it that way, BUT it's fun doing it :D Yes nos would be a quick way to get a few more bhp, but then again that's going to cost roughly the same if not more in the long run  Plus what happens when you want that extra grunt only to realise your bottles empty? :P
