:x Hey everyone i ran the rover 414 for about 15mins today whilst testing my boot install got the Revs up abit and the temp went up and off the guage.... ohh no!

Well the issue seems to be that the fan isnt cutting in AT ALL!

Is this a known issue on the mk2 400's? What could it be before i go chopping things up? :) thanks all

air's locked in the system Gav. K series' can be a right pain at times to bleed properly. Realised when i got home, what i told you at work was wrong, your fans work fro mthe ECU, not the switch on the rad. It'll more than likely be a fuse, a relay OR your Coolant temp sensor

Relays & Fuses all ok!
Fans still not coming on (i connected it to the direct power and it worked 1st time)

The bottom end of the engine isnt getting ANY water at all the top hose is red hot but the bottom one is freezing cold and the water in the bottle is also freezing..... What else could be the problem? i think its an air-lock now i'm going to make an attempt at bleeding it tommorow but cant find my Rave Disk :'(

What else? Remote shot in the dark:

Have you removed the radiator and flushed and reverse flushed it using a garden hose? That hot top, cold bottom hose scenario suggests a blocked radiator. Also, thermostat OK?
Apparently ... in a parallel universe MGJohn drives ....wait for it..... A ..

Right what you need to do is like mgjohn says.
Pull the rad out and flush it to make sure it's flowing in both directions.

This is what I did when I did the wifes hgf - took me 2 gos:
When you stick it back in dont connect the botton hose and flush the whole system from the coolent tank and make sure the water is flowing out the bottom ok.

Make sure the heater is set to hot (but off).
Connect the bottom hose when the coolent tank is empty. Fill the coolent tank slowly not gonig above the max mark (the ridge in the middle). Keed doing this until the water isnt going down.

At this point find the bleed screw in the rear water pipe, uncrew this to allow air to excape. Make sure the coolent tank doent get dry. Keep doing this till only water comes out.

When done top the coolent tank up again and start the car.

Alow the car to walm up normally, allow to cool and re bleed.

airlock is most likely but your waterpump could be knackered.

i have known impellers to come loose on the shaft or the blades to rot away.

if the engine fan is not cutting in, the cabin heater still blows constant hot air and if it's drinking a lot of fuel it might suggest a duff CTS. unplug the connector (brown - tho they vary in colour depending on model/year) and start up the car, the fan should come on - seeing uv already had it running on a live feed i think uv found yor offending part. of course, all this is assuming coolant is circulating.

CTS changed... problem persists
