Took the coupe down to edinburgh airport and back the other night to pick up my brother, dont often take it on a run so thought I'd measure the mpg. 60mph A-road most of the way, short stretch of motorway and last couple of miles slow in traffic. 120 mile round trip, pretty much sat at the speed limit all the way due to it being dark and a bit damp.
Owners handbook for the car quotes 44mpg at 56mph but didnt think you'd ever get near that! Best I'd had before was about 35-36 on a trip, well pleased, at least I know it seems to be running healthy.

it can be done...
i got over 400 miles to a tank on the 420 (not a turbo admitedly, but doesnt make much difference), and that included 40miles of town driving!
slow and steady wins the race!

Good stuff matey, i see obscenely good MPG on runs around 70mph. Regularly see 32+ mpg, i imagine you ,like me, have the long legged K7 box, that does circa 2600 RPM @ 70, great for cruise economy.

Good figures from the T series, have never seen better than 32mpg out of the Celica, smelly close ratio gear box
3000rpm at 60mph in fifth, like a 1.4 !!

the 620 was newer with loads less miles on it

the 620 honda is absolutely shocking for mileage...
id say it was rarely better than the Ti...
nasp t16 would kick it into touch.
that said, ive not done any driving in my 113bhp low comp f20z2 engine 620, only the high comp z1 130bhp version...

Our 216 cabrio seems to give 40-odd on a run, much better than my LPG powered 820 (27mpg) but still more expensive!

The book figures for the 600 range show the Ti to be significantly more economical than all the other petrol honda engines, including the 1.8...

Driving 40 miles on the motorway each way to work and back, I regularly see decent MPG. I love it, and I'm currently on a short NASP box.
Can't wait to get my torsen box rebuilt

28MPG was the best I've ever cracked in the coupe although, I'm only getting 400miles to a 70 litre tank in a new 2.0TDI.
My name is Michael and I think I have a problem!

That's rubbish! My 800 has done that before (68 litre tank, obviously not completely empty)!

No, but still shorter than the normal K7 box.

I get just under 50 miles from a tenner in my 216!
The 56mm tb probably don't help though

thats absolutely shocking
I got 23-25mpg, in my 255 @ wheels Impreza Type R 2 door, and that had a close ratio box so did 4200rpm @ 80 in 5th etc, not exactly economical. 0-60 in 4.7 and just under 13.0 on a perfect 1/4 run though, I'd be distraught if I was getting that economy in a 1.6 Auto...

Not nice on the wallet at all, especially when you drive a lot

That'd be ok if you did most of your driving in town
