Thats why i arent keen on this, plus the fact (no offence to dj2500) that it seems to be 'pushed' that the guy doesnt want it, and hes after punting it on. I think ive seen three threads with this car in.

my car..620 si

Post by dj25000 »

i have this 620 si ...grey L reg, 119000 miles, clean inside and out. Nearly new tyres, oil-filter-air filter chaged every 1000 miles after i bought it 1 and abit year ago from the only owner since new. Car was kept very clean. I had a little bump on the passenger side front and driver side rear at a traffic light..the boot locks ok...but the bumper are a bit bent inside..nothing serious...wipers are new.driver side window glass needs a new rubber surround ,gets stuck when going down or up ...new motor and mechanincs inside the door...4 months tax..MOT runs out this month..had the breaks changed as soon as i bought the car..engine is in brilliant condition...superb in one word.

I want something new.....wanna sell this one....how much would i get for it...

I was put off by that at first. But i always check untaxed cars on the website below to see if the owner is holding the tax back, then i barter for it.
The R reg is the genuine Rover reg and the L595 YNS is a Astra 1.4

Also the Rover is just out of tax, April 30th.

Website link..... to check any cars tax, click on the vehicle enquiry. You must know the reg and make.

Its nice to see the true facts come to light. The DVLA website only told me it was a 1.4 vauxhall, so as dj had said it was an Astra, i said it was an Astra 1.4.

There is still something not right with this Rover as others have mentioned,
dont know what is, maybe just a gut feeling.

All, that said, i am still in talks to get this Rover, so an update will follow at some point.

My initial reaction when looking at this was that given the guy is a motor trader (the clue is in his ebay name), he's unlikely to know any of the cars he's got that well, and the fact he's got positive feedback on three other cars in the last month, it's probably worth a gamble.

However... when you look at the feedback, he's got two positives for the same car (a Rover 200) which was sold twice in the space of two weeks meaning he's almost certainly either 'sold' it to a mate initially who was bidding it up for him and got them to give positive feedback without actually buying it, or he's sold it to someone who's then asked for a refund when the car turned out to be a shed.

Given how many different bidders there were for it in the first auction, I'd suggest the latter is more likely what happened.

If this is the case... well then it might actually be a good sign, unless of course the original buyer turned up in a Transit full of blokes waving pickaxe handles when they asked for his money back. ;-)

The one of the other things I've noticed is that the ebay account he's using has only been active since Feb 2008, yet on some of the other completed auctions listed under it the seller says the following: "*** Please Dont Let Our Low Feedback Rating Put You Off, We Have Sold Over 300 Cars On Ebay***"

Seems a bit unlikely they'd have shifted that many cars since February 2008 under the same user profile without gathering a bit more feedback in the process, so if they've been using another profile in the past, why aren't they now?

All in all, I'd be cautious anyway - the last point is the one that would make me more wary than anything.

Other observations... hardly MOT left and it's located in the arse end of nowhere, (as in Cumbria), so depending on where you're based, a fair old trek to do only to find out it's not as described when you get there.

No L reg Corsa Automatics currently listed or sold within the last few weeks up in Cumbria on eBay under any profile, either...

'Buyer Beware', as they say.

I agree with all you have said mate. I have made all the checks you have done. Also he has a feedback of 4 now, for an Astra 1.6 which sold for ....... wait for it 620.
I have also asked dj25000 if the dj in his name has anything to do with djmotorauctions.
During the last few weeks power sellers on ebay ( like my sister ) have been told to either register as a business or get a new ebay name as their turnover is too great for ebay to class them as private..... so i dont know if this has anything to do with their ebay name change ???
Bottom line is, i am only 102 miles from the Rover ( as i am up in North Yorks at the moment ), so as you say it is worth a try, but it is becoming a uphill struggle due to unanswered mails and witheld numbers, so i cant return calls.

Watch this space !!!!

Coincidence methinks...

Easy tiger. ;)

Another genuine coincidence I think, if you check DJ25000s feedback on eBay, as you can see his location in one of his auctions, i.e: nowhere near Cumbria.

Ah, that would make sense... don't think the 'new' account is a business one though.

Anyway... the other thing to note is that the other three car auctions to date, whilst as full of content, use a different font / different payment term statements etc, so almost certainly someone else is sharing the account and the other cars were theirs rather than this chaps.

Yes... I am bored today. ;-)

HI Steve and Mark,

I have nothing to do with the ebay seller. He lives in cumbria after posting the link in this thread and getting all the "useful" advise from big brothers like you, i am concerned now to go ahead with the trnsaction. So i asked all of you if anyone is interested wh lives near enough to check it out. In the meantime the seller called me and was asking why am i delaying. I gave him some reasons and said i wil get in touch very soon. I also gave him a hint that i may not be able to buy the car. He said straight way then i will have to pay for the listing ( 30 quid ). I said i will pay for the listing if i dont buy it. Thats the latest

My Ebay id is DJ25000 as well ( Yes all the dj25000 you will find anywhere on the net is ME ) and i live in Uxbridge.

This thread is realy getting interesting....keep it u guys....and contact me if any info needed from my side. Dont hesitate. I wanna stick till we get to the bottom of it. 8)

Cheers...

Yeah, i know that of yesterday, he comes from Uxbridge. I asked him before i did my checks.

Also, yes i noticed the different templates for the listings and yes i am bored too and have spent another few days trying to change cars to no avail as of yet.

Hi dj, i posted my last post whilst you were writing yours.

I have mailed the guy through ebay to which he has replied once keeping his email private. Now ebay is blocking further mails between us as we have no active listings between us.

As i have 2 ebay accounts ( ha ha no im not Del Boy ) i messaged him on my spare account and gave him my email address and my mobile no. THis was yesterday and i have had NO emails and 1 withheld short phone ring ???

If you know the guy's email address PM it me please mate.

You don't have to pay it, actually.

Well not all of it, anyway, (well not any of it if we're honest, but for the sake of avoiding bad feedback and 'doing the right thing', you ought to at least reimburse him what he'll actually be out of pocket by as a result of you pulling out of buying it).

Unless eBay have changed things in recent weeks, if you both agree not to complete the transaction, he'll only be paying the listing fees, which should be somewhere around half what he's said.

If you want to be classed as a business account , you have to display a phone number and an address on all your listings, new ebay rules........ but if you dump your old I.D. ( and your customers / feedback etc and start again as a private user, you dont have to display contact details. djmotorauctions has no contact number incase you havnt noticed.
It looks like he wants to keep some privacy or distance.

I have hit a stumbling block. The buyer for my 45 ( a motor trader from Durham ) will give me the pityful sum of £500 for my 45, but wants nothing to do with helping me getting to Penrith or giving me a lift so far back up the A1.
So, i have refused to sell my 45 to him for 500 as i will be left 100 miles away from the Vitty with no transport !
I am only visiting in North Yorks, ( at my girlfriends ) so dont have any mates really with cars to run me to get the vitty.
I offered the motor trader for me to drive us both to Penrith in my 45 on my petrol and he then drives the 45 home and i drive the vitty home, but he refused.
So, i have told him if he wants the 45, the price is 600 quid ( what the car is worth ), to which we have had chosen words and he has declined.
Trains are a nightmare from here, to go to Penrith, you first have to go west to Manchester, then North to Penrith, near on a 4 hour journey, plus viewing time then driving 2hours back from Penrith.
Does anyone on here want a tidy 1.8i 45 for the wife or a work car ???
It would be a deal of trust as you would have to pay by bank transfer to the Cumbria dealers bank and i would settle the rest in cash on collection.
My 45 could be picked up at J33. M1 later this week or at the weekend.

I know this is a long shot request to say the least !! but options are running out.
If i cant get the vitty then he will have to relist.

Here's an ebay link to my car. I ended the auction early as the motor dealer first offered 600. After the auction ended he said he could only give me 500 !!
