Re: Breaking 220 GSI Turbo
I've had probably about as much of this forum as I can take.
Clique the movie.
F*** all gets said when original owner decides to break. I buy it with my hard earned and every Tom inflatable dinghy and Harry has an opinion on it and its parts?? F*** that. Not one person went forward and bought the car to repair or finish. I've openly said I'll happily sell the shell for anyone wanting to save it. What do I get offered? Virtually 2 balloons and a stick. It's a sad day when the only serious offer has come from a walk in customer who hates Rovers. Take great pride in that.
The car on the whole was an abortion. It is a tatty old rover with some decent bolt on parts. The workmanship on it was not the best in some places and the parts that were good at one point are sadly not as good at present as shown in the feedback from for sale posts. That's my problem now, no one else's. I agreed a deal that myself and the owner were and are happy at. The engine and associated parts that are very good and where the money is, will be built into another Rover that is a little special. So get off your f****** high horses and come back to reality.
BlueRover, Internet forums are great for talking danglies deluxe, its all too easy to act a hard c***. Someone spoke to me in real life like you wrote above, I'd have a good go at breaking your jaw. Keep that on mind and I hope you say hello at some point. I'm well known in the MGR community and attend a lot of things, so don't be shy.
Its sad that rovertech has ended up like this. Genuinely decent members outweighed by a clique of the narrow minded thoughtless. The lack of moderation in abusive posts that leads to replies like this is a laugh too. Happy to moderate "you need a price" quicker than you can hit submit, but don't step in here? Awesome.
Well done.

BlueRover may come across as a keyboard warrior, but then so do you goldie. There's no need to be making threats over a post on an Internet forum. Grow up.goldie wrote:The car on the whole was an abortion. It is a tatty old rover with some decent bolt on parts. Rovertech has and always will be an enthusiasts community. You break a very rare car, expect a response as above. A tatty old Rover doesn't deserve to go to the scrapheap according to the people that love then. It deserves to be restored and cherished. Just look at the Ford community, knackered old Escorts and Sierras restored to their former glory. Why are we not like that here? Its sad that rovertech has ended up like this. Goldies rite guys no one else wanted to buy the car.
He has the rite to do what he wants with the car after all it is his car now so just leave the guy to do what he's got to do and if someone wants to save the shell then good but if no one does then who cares at the end of the day these cars are worthless and instead of all the nasty comments put your hand up and buy the shell if it means that much to you's

Re: Breaking 220 GSI Turbo
Andy this is a for sale thread can we stick to that and there's other sections on the forum for this kind of descution about saving classic rovers?
Re: Breaking 220 GSI Turbo
M4cwo, you're right, nobody else did offer to buy the car... but then people can't expect to break a car on an enthusiasts forum without some sort of backlash?
I used to be one to jump in on people who did so but I soon realised that it made no difference and people will do as they please, yet there are some members who will try a little bit harder to keep these cars on the road. You can't blame them really, can you?
goldie took it upon himself to threaten to break somebodies jaw over comments on an Internet forum. This, in my eyes, is absolutely PATHETIC and any further comments will be dealt with in an appropriate way. Nobody has the right to threaten anybody in such a way and should be willing to accept criticism when breaking a rare car within an enthusiast community.

You're right however I will not put up with threatening behaviour on the forum. As a result of goldie's absolutely appalling reaction, these posts shall remain. If members wish to start another topic, they are more than welcome to do so.m4cwo wrote:Andy this is a for sale thread can we stick to that and there's other sections on the forum for this kind of descution about saving classic rovers?

I don't believe I offered you to little for a shell that needs two sills replacing two front wings and a respray

It needs a passenger wing and sills were patched where the spats go and it's a 19 year old car and it could be doing with the roof and bonnets sprayed but again that's down to buyers choice as it didn't bother me.
