Hi everyone.
Ive just been sent an email saying that Virgin are upgrading their email system or something.
I check my email using outlook express 6 and it said to run a automatic tool that would update the settings. But that didnt work (or do much) so then i couldnt check my email (it failed). I have now deleted the 'virgin' email from my 'accounts' in outlook.
It says if you want to look at the manual settings click here on the email/webpage. but every help link i click wont load up or it fails.
I mean im guessing that the automatic tool should have just tweaked the settings on the virgin 'account' in outlook (but it didnt) and i cant get hold of the manual settings to make my email work.
Anyone recieved this email and having any joy?

Hi i was sent an email about an hour ago that had a button on it FIX MY EMAIL that takes you to their website to install/carry out changes to your account settings. however this didnt work for me. and when i click any links that say 'manual settings do it urself' none of the links work.
if you go to the virign media website and to their help section at the top i am looking at the help topics -
'email settings change'
'about the virgin media mail upgrade'
they all take ages to load (then dont and crasch or 404.
Maybe there are so many people accessing their site it is not working.
Annoying but i guess i can just check my mail online and not use outlook for it....

Re: Virginmedia Email system upgrade Re: google
lol.
When I was with Telewest about 10 f*cking years ago and was given a @blueyonder email, I could never get it to work in outlook, so didnt use it.
When I was with virgin last year and was given a @blueyonder email... I lol'd and never used it.
Just use googlemail, its free and works.

Re: Virginmedia Email system upgrade Re: google
I ran the tool from the email.
The only thing that i can see any difference is advanced tab of the " mail accounts"
Its still pop3.blueyonder and smtp.blueyonder but it now has to go throught SSL.
outgoing mail is 465 and incoming is 995.

Re: Outlook Express 6 - Mail Settings
Hi does anyone know the exact up-to-date settings in Outlook Express 6 for –
Orange
O2
I am sure they were working okay up until the last few weeks ago but they have suddenly stopped working and I cant send email from them...
NB. My virgin account stopped sending email about 3 weeks ago so I changed the port settings from 25/110 to 465/995 SSL enabled and this sorted it out. (I then had to change my Orange livebox router firewall setting from HIGH down to NORMAL:DEFAULT as it was not sending the email. Will lowering the firewall create any kind of security threat?)
Many thanks.
