Don't know if it would apply to the one x, but one my Desire S if I turn off "mobile network" aka internet. it doubles my battery life  I regularly turn it on and off as required, and use WiFi as much as possible.

I do this as a matter of course, I left mine on standby all day today, the battery had hardly been touched, I watched an hour long documentary on it yesterday and it took about 25 percent.

I have tried a few blackberries, Tbh they always feel cheap to me, flimbsy and the buttons are horrid... Oh and the screens awfull... And you are very limited to their apps etc.

Fair point on the battery life, doesn't bother me as I just charge my phone overnight as I have been doing with the desire.

I've been offered an galaxy s3.
Is it better than the iPhone 4?
I use my iPhone for everything (more than my laptop or iPad) and its jailbroken too so even more available.
I couldn't imagine a phone being any better so do I go for the 4s, stick with the 4, wait for the i5 or go for the sg3?
What more can the sg3 give me?
I jail broke an iPhone 4s the other day and tbh I was quite impressed by the customisations and tbh the music sounded a bit nicer via same headphones compared to my s2 but.. it woaant enough for me to want to buy one tbh, galaxy s3 wins it for me as I can added music simply by drag and drop ,can add a big SD card and also can play music direct from USB which I am looking forward to. It'll never be as nice as music from vinyl though lol

dialaphone are good for free phones Drew, but its usually with redemption. They are good with the redemption, but its obviously a bit of a pain.

Id find a S3 and X to have a quick play with. They are very similer phones at the end of the day, and after holding an S3 it felt cheap and nasty compared to my S.
I noticed a few reviews saying the S3 wasnt the step forward expected and most put it level with the X overall. The S3 is going top due to hype more than anything. I feel a bit for HTC, the one range are excellent phones but they are being overshadowed by the previous generation failings (no competition for the S2, 4s )

My bird just got an S3 and tbh given some impressions given - its not that far ahead of my 2nd tear One S.
In most basic tasks the one S is faster. It gets to its camera, takes 10 pics and back to the home screen well before the S3. As it does most simple tasks.
The HTC interface is better and has more useful, basic tools as standerd.

The S3 is consistantly quick tho (compared to the S which is faster at times, slower at others) and smoother in its operation.
Its a great size to. Just about portable but feels like double the screen area of the S.
It doesnt feel to bad in the hand either, just compared to the S which can be used one handed easily its a bit cumbersome and the ones's assembly is in another league alltogether.
And it has bags more advanced features. And while its camera and video'ing are much slower than the one S, it does take better pictures more often than not.

If someone said I could have either free. Id choose an S3, but on the other hand im not that jelous my bird has the 'better' phone. The S is better 90% of the time - as a smartphone. It just doesnt match the outright ability of the S3.

got latest release of ice cream sandwich and my one S performance advantage has gone.
Then the birds S3 get jelly bean and its suddenly way better than my One. Sense is still makes htc better to use under basic use, but OS version/patch levels make a big difference to these devices :|
S3 + Jelly bean is a pretty awesome device.

Jelly bean is a fantastic upgrade over ice cream sandwich.

My s3 was good before but on jelly bean it's lightening fast.

yeh, jelly bean is awesome, cant wait for the upgrade for mine. What carrier you with Drew? We got jelly bean last week on o2for the s3. Samsung ahead of HTC on this to now :annoy:

Youll get it as an upgrade request on your Phone Drew (or check for updates manually). It patches the OS to the latest version and well worth it.
