Sounds like a silly problem but I can't format several of my SD cards.
Obviously the slider is in the correct place down the side.
I try and format it and it just says it's write protected.
I've tried clearing the attributes in diskpart. No luck.
My cameras can format it but I want to use it for PC based purposes.
Any ideas?

Re: Can't format SD card
Just using regular windows on a PC/laptop? I had this the other day when I was trying to recover files from an old laptop using a Ubuntu boot disc, after rebooting a couple of times it decided they weren't write-protected any more and let me copy everything over.
Re: Can't format SD card
Insert the SD card in the card reader. Click on Start and in the "Search programs and files" box type:
Disk Management
Find your SD card in the list. Right click on it an format.
Note that most devices that use SD cards like phones and cameras don't use NTFS file systems so format it as FAT32. Better yet, plug in the SD card to the device that it is intended for and format it there to make sure it will be readable by your device. Your computer should still be able to read and write to it.
