flood damaged cars
seen a few tempting flood damaged cars
has anyone else ever bought one,
what normally constitutes them being put on the register?
could it be possible there isnt anything wrong and it just got wet inside or will they all have engine damage, most petrols i have seen suck up water are fine afterwards its onl diesels which suffer

Doesn't matter what engine, water inside equals trouble.
Flood damaged are always written off because it ruins the interior, the brakes, the gearbox, the engine, the loom etc
Can be a few bargains though.

There is quite a few that say perfect runners though. I think it all comes down to that insurance would have to do a proper job. I.e new interior, all electrics, brakes? maybe engine rebuild. Even if all these are fine the customers not going to be happy unless its all replaced which means expensive bill and easier to write off.
Main thing to check is electrical gremlins. I.e dash lights on, all windows, sunroof e.t.c work if electric.

Maybe worth a punt for a trackday car? As all the interior will be stripped out etc.

Friend of mine recently bought a flooded car. Got an 02 R45 for $1250 off a dealer. She said it was a bit damp smelling but that was sorted after it was valeted. Works fine too. Remember most flooded cars haven't been driven through the flood so the engine shouldnt be a problem.
Another thing to check is that it has actually been flooded, the owner probably got confused and its more than likely leaking rear light lens seals.

Pressing "Alt" and "shift" together switches between US and UK.radddogg wrote:tripe n onions off!
