Ever get the feeling someone up there hates you?

Post by xr4x4 »

OMG im having a crap evening.. everything is going wrong.

first off.. i helped a friend purchase a lenovo laptop and i set it up for them a while ago and i went though the 'create system restore disk' wizard as it asks u too. so thats fine. now im looking at it again because its infected and unusable. so theres not alot on it so i opt for a format and restore.

well easy i thought, bung in the restore 'DVD' and went though the restore process, your data will be lost etc etc. now heres the killer.. half way though it asks for the 1st restore disk!!!.. i mean WTF..i havemt got that, so ive lost the whole drive and the back up partition AND the drive 'did' have all the drivers i needed... <groan> so XP pro clean load it is.

next my internet connection is running at under 512kb, ive got a 8mb connection. so the downloads are taking an age..I.E 11kb/s.

so im trying to chill by watching some TV with the freeveiw TV card in my computer but that keeps breaking up and im gonna throw it out the window.

im like tearing my hair out. :x

so ive cracked open my home system to plug in the sata drive from the laptop to try and recover the data for the drivers...

no wonder IT guys always look stressed out.

Whooo...sarrrr

This is the reason I stopped doing computers quite a while ago.... I swear it's more stressful than dealing with old people at work that can't see the 6ft tall stack of banana's next to them :P

lol.. ok so its not that bad... but why does it happen?

i left my job in computers back in aug and i was always stressed. since then ive been unemployed just tryin to keep myself busy.

nothing else i have done since has got even slighly close to how stressed i used to get. im now wondering if i ever want to go back into that trade.

Welcome to IT, you will find the prozac in the drawer on your left, and an assortment of caffine products in the one on your right.

Last place I worked in had very chilled out IT staff. Any probs email a place in the states (try doing that when your PC has gone t1ts up), first line of the content is please assign to Cork local IT, then tell the problem. About 2 days later if you were lucky someone downstairs rang you, never once did I get the impression they had read the email I had sent (or got someone to send for me). I thought it was fine though as I was paid by the hour, having no PC does have it's advantages when the deadlines are getting close.

Trust me, you don't want to either. Someone sent me the full video and I opened it, intriguingly not knowing what I'd received (obviously I knew it to be virus free, it wouldn't get on my PC otherwise 8) )

Our IT aren't too bad here but we do have a joke about them being pen-throwers. Just imagine them sitting at their desks all day throwing pens up and down. When the phone rings it's just too much effort to deal with anything so it's just "Have you restarted?" or "Try logging out and logging back in again"

Re the 1 cup - yeh that was pretty nasty but I've seen worse. Google "SWAP.avi" and get back to us......
