Your Next Car?

Post by owen »

Theres me sat on the computer on a nice Saturday afternoon when the suns out trying to avoid revision  , scouting ebay and pistonheads for my next possible car, which got me thinking of this thread.

What does everyone see themselves driving as their next car?

Personally its either a;

BMW 325 E30 (hopefully a sport for the right money)
Nissan 200sx s14a touring
Or the cheaper option, a Rover turbo of some sort.

I always go through phases of fancying a change, usually after not driving the Rover for a while then as soon as I do drive it there's no way I want to sell it.

I'm always thinking of what I might get next though, I've recently been looking into the toyota/lexus soarer twin turbo - ridiculous amount of car for the money. Or maybe a 406 coupe V6 or alfa gtv V6. Oh, and a bedford rascal camper! :D

Depending on finances and other (family) movements R33 GTST or Celica GT4 ST205, both with a handful of mods (preferably non-chaved).

Constantly being pulled towards 220 GsiT/GTiT/Coupe Turbo or bubble turbo though...

Well, I've got loads of plans for the Rover so will have that for quite a while.

I've had it a year and when I open her up, she still brings a smile to my face.

Eventually (doubt I'll actually sell the Rover), I want something old skool, 4WD and jap... a nice Evo or something 8)

Not sure whether I would sell mine or keep it, but I've had mine for 7 years and kinda got attached to it

A future engine transplant has crossed my mind too, but one of them would be mental, the things can barely stay upright round a corner with a 1.0L engine!

I plan to buy a panel van version and convert it myself to a camper, and probably slightly pimp it by lowering it on nice little alloys. Want to do everything myself including the paint job, pretty much every aspect of the build will be a first time for me lol.

Either an RX7 Twin Turbo or a Supra had thought about a 200sx but after I put a turbo engine in the MR2 a standard one would be a step backward :P

As there are very few decent 620 turbos around, I'm looking at a couple of options....

Option 1 is to replace my 420SLDi with an Alfa 156 JTD, or a similar turbodiesel. Basically, something a bit newer and more stylish, but with similar fuel economy. This is the option my head is telling me to do.

Option 2 is to keep the 420SLDi for commuting, and buy a more "upmarket" car with a big engine for "fun". Choices include the BMW 840Ci, Mercedes CLK320, and of course the MG ZT 260. My heart says to take this option.

At the moment, my head is winning, due to the costs! I'll take my time in deciding though...

Firose, I'd be pretty gutted if you sold yours... especially with the current market value. That's why I've got no plans at all to sell mine.

I'd rather spend a bucketload on it, enjoy it and keep it locked away when I do eventually get a new car, bringing it out every now and then to upset the latest breed of 'performance' cars
