Re: What would people like?
I don't want to take the thread off topic, but surely cold air boxes have benefits to K-series nasp engines too?
They're not exactly a cool running engine after all

Re: What would people like?
On thne coupe's when you take the bumper off and there's the long U shaped pipework...wtf is that? I'm assuming coolant..if so
can they be obtained in SS already or would they be a rare and nice shiny item to be blinging up the rover?

Re: What would people like?
Thanks Pete, I've never had one rot but is it something that would be a good idea to bling up with the stainless?peteT16 wrote:^^^ Power steering cooler

Re: What would people like?
I'm seeing more and more of this pipe cluster corroding on the L-series engines. Not only does it carry coolant but also the diesel feed and return lines to the fuel pump (mounted on the engine).
It runs around the cylinder head above the gearbox, doesn't have to be stainless even copper would be fine. Rimmers still do them but at £86!!

Definitely another item I would like to have a go at making.
Would you have a part I could use for reference?

Ok Wayne, cold air boxes are next on the hitlist.
Still waiting on Greg to get me the extra dimensions I need for them aswell.
Putting together some maestro heater pipes at the moment for a member and hopefully a fair few more for a group buy.

This is what I'm working on at the moment..
Potentially a fair few more either in copper or stainless I guess will be the two popular flavours.

Re: What would people like?
Stick with copper David as a matrix stainless would be pants as the heat transfer is no good in stainless
Re: What would people like?
I cant see why not pengy.
Customer is always right.
I'm trying to push for copper they are the best value aswell but some people always want to go the stainless route.Marty wrote:Stick with copper David as a matrix stainless would be pants as the heat transfer is no good in stainless

Re: What would people like?
I'm afraid in this instance they wrong Dave
But if they are wanting to pay a lot more for something that will not do the job nowhere near as good as the original then so be it

Re: What would people like?
Those are just the pipes that lead to the heater matrix from what I understand, in which case reduced heat loss would allow the matrix to work more efficiently
K series coolant rail might be another good one, seems to be the same part for all FWD applications (I think MG F/TF has extra pipes attached) so potentially more lucrative than T series stuff, especially when you start selling to Elise owners and bump your prices up masively

Re: What would people like?
I was going by a PM where I'm sure a read it he making a matrix. If it is just the pipes then yes I stand corrected and as you have said will make the matrix more efficient due to less heat loss in pipes.stefaclese wrote:Those are just the pipes that lead to the heater matrix from what I understand, in which case reduced heat loss would allow the matrix to work more efficiently

Dave is it just the pipes or the whole unit you going to make ?
If you get stuck for matrix units should you need them give me a shout can soon supply them to you in batches if needed for you to then distribute
Re: What would people like?
Just making the matrix to bulkhead connecting pipework at the moment.
If it was a concern for anyone over such a short distance you could always put wrap around insulation seeing as its behind the bulkhead.

Re: What would people like?
It's a nice bit of fabrication you have done and a medal is in post for drilling that copper it can be a right ball ache but a really nice job you have done
Re: What would people like?
Thankyou Marty.
Its amazing how quickly copper (especially thick) can bind if you get too impatient and work the piece too hard.
