How much paint to spray a bike frame?

For things that don't fit into a category. i.e. non-motor related subjects.

How much paint to spray a bike frame?

Post by Roboscot »

As title, want to give my old bike a budget paint job and was thinking of going army green. For some reason it's bloody expensive and I can only find it in tiny 150ml cans (or large pots, landrover paint).

Anyone ever sprayed a bike frame who can tell me how much it takes/how many cans of colour coat?

Cheers

A couple of cans maybe.

A mate is doing this right now and just took it to a local place that refurbs alloys wheels. £35 for shot blasting and powder coating.

Or just brush it on. You can get a pretty good finish and less risk or bad coverage as in my experience it's easy to miss bits on things like frames.

Yep, i've found a place that does 500ml brush on landrover paint for the same price as a 300ml spray can so it would make sense to go that route.

If it was a newer, better bike i'd have probably got it blasted and powdercoated but i just wanted something to do really and rescued my old bike from my mum's shed, haven't been on a bike since i left home 11 years ago
