In-Ear Headphones

Post by lennox1185 »

Just curious as to what you guys use, and why? I'm after a new pair and sometimes the review on amazon are just pants. I don't care that they arrived withing 3 days and were well packed. I want to know what they sound like!

I listen to music when I'm sat at my desk at work. I'm currently using a pair of the JVC XX in-ears. They are a bit bulky but aren't heavy. They have phenominal bass but very little mid-range. They also have a very noisy cables (when they rub on clothes etc the noise is very loud in the headphones).

I'm after something that has a good range of sound, including good bass. I've looked at a few pairs of the Dr Dre Beats but I can't justify spending over £80 on headphones.

So what can you suggest? Reasonable price with good quality and sound.

I got a great pair with my Sony minidisc recorder although one of the cables (proper plastic coated and not this new soft rubber shite) has a break in it causing an intermittent signal. I got a new pair of Sony in-ear phones after doing a search for replacements and they sound as good as the original ones. They were £8 from Argos. The only thing I don't like is the rubbery finish to the cables which makes me think they're not going to last the 11 years the original ones did. Unlike the original eraphones which had a short cable on one ear (allowing the cable to sit neatly down your shoulder), these have equal length cables but it's a small price to pay. They also come with a couple of pairs of sponge covers which makes them a really snug fit. Also, there is no sound leakage unlike the logger ones you get with Apple products

I know they're only cheap but I have these and they're the only in-ear headphones I can get on with:

I prefer over-ear personally but the ones I have aren't practical for mobile usage.

EDIT: Should have clicked BlueRover's link before posting mine

I got some noise cancelling in ear ones with my Sony walkman mp3 player, they're really comfy and sound superb. Listening to the walkman then an apple thing back to back shows a massive difference in sound quality

I'll be damned if I can remember the name, but I've got a pair of white ones that were a tenner out an Orange shop and they're absolutely brilliant :) except the uber rubbery cable is annoying.

I've been having headphone issues too. The set that came with my old ipod maybe 6 years ago are still going and have good sound quality, but the grippy coating that helps hold them in place is coming off so i've been looking for a decent replacement.

I bought some cheapish branded ones from amazon on the strength of good reviews but the sound quality was awful compared to the old apple ones, then i bought new apple ones which looked identical but were hugely inferior to the old ones  Besides the sound quality the lead is so rubbery it sticks to your clothes when you're walking or when you turn your head and pulls the buds out of your ears, it really is an atrocious design.

I might get a set of those sony ones a couple of people here have recommended
