TopGear... Where was MG??
Was a bit disappointed to see that MG were omitted from the Top Gear "Best of British" show the other day.. yet they talked about JCB!? - MG's are still designed and assembled in the UK, this deserved big recognition imo.
Project Vittie under way...a.k.a. Money Pit...

Re: TopGear... Where was MG??
Also note Lotus were not mentioned and Aston only had a quick pick and a camera flyby.
There was also no mention of the thriving kit car industry either!

Re: TopGear... Where was MG??
Erm this is Top Gear - does anyone seriously expect anything remotely factual from them let alone have anything positive to say about the British car industry?! Its Deutschland über alles for Clarkson and co.

Re: TopGear... Where was MG??
DAS AUTO follows TG :~
It figures.
All those cushioned against reality highly over rewarded media types at the BBC have to justify why their car parks are full of Germanic tinware.
It is rare that Clarkson has a good word to say about anything involving an MG badge. Correction, not rare at all ... almost extinct!
Witness his opening words in the Sunday Broadsheet he writes for...
Witness his schnyde comment about the MGB on the postage stamp in the programme. He's still full and spouting it! Only thing he did not regurgitate was his mock "Black Country Brummie" accent he insultingly uses all too frequently.
So Clarkson got the hump about the timing of the DAS AUTO programme ... Good!
His tributes and praise for the Motor Industry has been his 'thing' for decades. Trouble is, it's mainly aimed at the German motor industry.
Gercha Cowson!
Apart from that I like Top Gear ... sometimes....
Here's he comes now in his Mercedes :~

He's always full of anti-MG excrement and spouting it since his early bit part days in Top Gear. That was a quarter of a century ago when he looked like a curly haired know-all know-nowt regurgitating the same old aint-Brit stuff.Clarkson wrote:I hate MGs and those who drive them.

Re: TopGear... Where was MG??
In all fairness MG's only have a couple of bits screwed to them at Longbridge now. We all know they only ship them over in "kit form" to avoid import taxes.

Re: TopGear... Where was MG??
its just the way it is over here isnt it? hence why there is so many german cars on our roads.
people here love to hate all things british, even though they are bloody british to start with.
they cant see past that badge and i honestly giggle to myself everytime i see a Golf or a X5 stranded at the side of the motorway (which happens a lot more than people think) to think they spent a good few grand more than they could have on something such as a Kia/Hyundai which imo will probably be more reliable, near enough as well built and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Re: TopGear... Where was MG??
I suggest you go drive a Kia/Hyundai, then jump in a BMW/Golf tbh

The Storm Has Gone Again
Bubble/Mk3 conversion looms available including wasted spark AND ZS, pm for prices !

The people that amuse me more are the ones that will happily buy a VW, but turn their noses up at Skoda or Seat, badge snobbery or what.

Personally, I think there is a place in the market for a cheap and cheerful brand.
I know landrover are making a killing by being all things to all men.
But I remember when the freelander was a jacked up rover with masses of compromise and it was the UK's best selling car.
Not anymore and never again with those prices landrover
