Posting this up on behalf of Carl Martin who has successfully organised this event for the last 2 years.

Date
Sunday 30th August 2015

Address
Dynodaze Ltd
Unit 16
Pheonix Busiiness Park
Brindley Road
LE10 3BY
(Easy access from the M69/M1 & M42)

Time
10:00 till 15:00

Dyno Machine
VTECH VT-2 Dynomometer

Prices
1) £30 = 2 x Power runs + Printout
2) £40 = 2 x Power runs + AFR + Printout
3) £50 = 2 x Power runs + AFR + Boost + Printout

Facilties
Toliets, food and drinks available etc.....

So that's exactly 1 month from today to put in the dairy. Its a good excuse to get off the keyboard/phone and meet some people face to face.

We are looking at a minimum of 10 cars to attend and isn't limited to MGR vehicles so get the word out to friends/family who would like to attend etc.

I'm not entirely sure what's involved, but there is a small competition on the day for 'car of the day' and the owner of that vehicle will win a price of £50cash.

Names

Be warned - times are nonsense, they close up as soon as nobody is left no matter how early it is.

Went there once in the Coupe, think it was just before I had it mapped so must have been mid-summer 2013. Was an event organised on facebook I think through some MGR group, turned up 2 hours before the stated closing time and there was nothing but locked doors and tumble weed. Their reply to my comment on fb seemed to sum up their lack of customer service skills quite aptly, so I shan't be touching them with a barge pole. No great loss to me beyond the wasted journey, plenty of proper professional outfits out there for this kind of thing.

Lol, it was quite a bit earlier than that, there just wasn't any need to be there at the crack of dawn!

There's one organise for area 52 in Mansfield for September 26thI think the saturdaya round then. Which has a the proper dyno dynamics machine which is supposed to be the best one to go for.

Start a new thread dude with the details.

Can we keep this thread short and sweet rather than kill it with comments from people who don't have intentions of attending.

For anyone looking for a simple dyno run giving you an idea of power output without getting too technical (new car or new engine build?), then this is ideal for just that.

Not a bad event in the end.

Most people got there first thing in the morning so everyone signed the papers and we got the road rolling.

Unfortunately we ended up having two separate groups (morning group & afternoon group) which was a shame as we didn't all get to meet each other!

Furthest and most dedicated member was Mr G Hall, doing a minimum 600 miles round trip for this event coming down from Edinburgh way :thumbup: :thumbup:

Biggest powered car(s) of the day was German, achieving 500bhp.

Biggest Rover powered vehicle was Tomcat Espace achieving 263bhp.

Results in ascending order

Austin Metro = 40bhp
Rover 25 = 91bhp
VW Caddy = 100bhp
MG ZR-T = 185bhp
Rover 220 Coupe Turbo = 191bhp
Vauxhall Corsa = 193bhp
Honda Accord = 218bhp
Rover 220 GTI = 220bhp
Renault Espace = 263bhp
M135 = 300bhp
M6 = 500bhp
M5 = 500bhp

Not a good day for me or Billy :lol:

Hopefully get another one arranged for early spring next year.

I have always wondered why every car I've put on them rollers make less than stock power. After asking a few questions and talking to the guys that run the place I was left more confused than ever. As was the rest of the afternoon group, the rollers give two readings. The first is the calculated flywheel power then it shows wheel horse power. The m6 made 465bhp at the fly/ 397 at the wheels and the guy was like that's bang on stock power. I said it's 510bhp stock, he said you add 25% to the whp but are machine gives a more realistic figure. Because 25% is ridiculous in transmission losses. So basically we was all adding 25% to are print out bhp and everyone was happy lol so I made 205 bhp Carl

If anyone can shed any light on there experience with this particularly dyno that would be most appreciated.

Worth mentioning some of us was getting two different print out's, one for bhp and one for whp. I asked for both.

Most T16's without mods will make less than stock power for a variety of reasons. 180-190 is common.

Wheel HP is the most comparable figure as it is the least "messed" with. Transmission losses on a PG1 are typically 10-15%. 25% is 4wd territory.

Once I get my last few bits done I'd like to see what power I have as it's all guess work, engine was a brand new one and has only done just over 3000 miles from new so should have all its horses still. When would this be as I won't be finished until around may this year.
