How bad is it undernearth the bolt-on panels. Id have most of those bits if you plan to fix it (wrong colours, but im in Oxfordshire)

Lorry pulled out on me on the motorway, cars on either side of me so all I could do was slam the brakes on and wait for the inevitable impact.

The only damage to any of the drivetrain seems to be the lower half of the airbox which has had one of the mounting nuts and surrounding plastic ripped off, the engine still runs perfectly fine (apart from the lack of coolant!).

Rotten luck Stefan, hope you're okay. I've got a garage full of coupe bits, lights, radiator, wings (no bonnet or front bumper though), so shout if I can be of help.

Don't forget too, if it's someone else's fault (which it was) and you're claiming against their insurance, you do not have to accept his insurer writing your car off, unless it's Cat A or B, or involved in a fatality

Its a difficult one tbh, my worry is if I did put in a claim chances are it would turn out shared liability and I'd lose 3 years NCB. My word versus that of the lorry driver. For now I'm more inclined to not put in a claim and keep my NCB, but obviously things can change.

The other car ploughing in to the back of the lorry makes it impossible to see what damage it had from the collision with me. The damage to mine was pretty much just from the 2 girder chassis rails of the 7.5 tonner that are nearly flush with the back of it, the lorrys crash bar and one of the lights got a little contact but that all got taken out completely by the BMW. So one would think they'd be pursuing the BMW's insurers, if they try it on with my insurer then I'll certainly be putting in a claim.

I'll decide what I do with the Coupe after I've got the front panel off and thoroughly inspected the chassis. Damage looks minimal to the drivers side structure behind the front panel, the outer wing even looks straight. The passenger side is a lot worse though, inner and outer wings are bend and the front panel has been mashed around the chassis behind. The suspension looks good though, wheels haven't moved back or anything, and the strut towers are both the same distance from the bulkhead. The front subframe still seems straight, but need to investigate to see if its been pulled up at all.

With enough time, effort and money it would be fixable but it needs quantifying to see if it's viable. But to keep things remotely on-topic (

) that's why for now I need a new cheapy cheap car!

At least the engine & suspension is fine!

I'd say the chassis will be aswell looking at the damage...it's very similar to an accident i had a few year's back & after that farce, i don't blame u for thinking about not putting a claim in!

Mine went on for 18 months & was a week away from going to court! Nothing but stress & hassle!

Surely the BMW driver will say it was the lorry driver's fault aswell tho?!

Hope u find another car for now soon tho mate, it's a pain without one!

strip the front slam panel off Steph take a good look at the rails, You might be lucky, if not strip it.. get every little part off it that is not welded on and keep it for the next one, sorry to hear it, I think my mate saw you on the motor way...
