Wanted: Coupe K16 or turbo, 620Ti or ZT 1.8 turbo
As per the title, to replace my dead ZS I'm after either a K series or turbo Coupe (or turbo R8), a 620Ti or a ZT 1.8 turbo (would consider a 75 1.8 turbo too). Preferably not far from the West Midlands or Oxfordshire, but I'll go further afield for the right car. Anyone on here have anything?

Not really after a diesel, I'd consider it though if don't find anything after the weekend. Seen a 1.8 turbo ZT advertised locally that I'll probably go and look at, would prefer to get something from an enthusiast though.

In your current situation, I wouldn't be so fussy with car selection.
I know you are a Kseries/R8 guru, but there is nothing wrong with these motors.
I'm sure Richard is a nice genuine guy too.
Can't be telling the new boss the same excuses as your old JLR place.

I would rather have a v6 zt over a turbo.
The diesels are very reliable but most have done a lot of work including mine!

Work is irrelevant as I'm trundling about in a shitty 1.2 Seat Ibiza rental until I buy something.
After suffering 2 KV6 BE bearing failures in 2 different engines in the same car I'm not remotely inclined towards owning anything else with one under the bonnet. Plus all the KV6 ZT's I've seen advertised are all well overdue for a belt change, which again I have no interest in doing again (and don't have the time for).mg-richard wrote:I would rather have a v6 zt over a turbo.

Re: Wanted: Coupe K16 or turbo, 620Ti or ZT 1.8 turbo
Picked up a ZT 190 for £620 last weekend, would have preferred a 1.8 turbo but out of the 3 I saw 2 had HGF and plenty of other issues and the other was a little overpriced. Pretty happy with the V6 tbh, as long as it doesn't munch its big end bearings like the ZS did! After being in a 1.2 Seat Ibiza for 3 weeks it felt like a rocket
Most of the cars I wanted to look at I couldn't get a viewing for, a combination of people messing me around with dates and times, several that only replied to initial messages and then went quiet and several that didn't even bother to reply at all. I assume most people just expect someone to click "buy it now" without viewing the thing

It's a funny game. I'm Trying to sell my daughters Pug 107 and just getting dodgy requests for PayPal transactions. Glad you got something Rover though. Let's have a pic soon.

Re: Wanted: Coupe K16 or turbo, 620Ti or ZT 1.8 turbo
It is rather ridiculous, there were at least 5 different cars that I would have quite happily bought (4 ZT turbos and a 216 Coupe) assuming there wasn't anything wrong with them, but I couldn't even get a viewing. C'est la vie. Paid for it by paypal incidentally

Did you request that your agent views the car as you are out of the country and can only be contacted by email?

No I just told them I'm a Nigerian Prince and that I'd give them £5million if they send me their debit card number to help me get my funds out of Babylon.

BUMP!
The ZT decided to eat a piston while driving it to get an MOT

Bloody hell Stef
The most unlucky clutch guy and the most unlucky kv6 guy i know of.
I have a mate that loves his kv6 zt, its done around 150k as well!
That said my Zs came with 2 broken rods... And a hole in the block, i have seen this type of failure time and time again on various Facebook groups.
I don't know what you are thinking next, but i personally would not buy another v6!
A 1.8 turbo would be good, i had a 75 briefly and that was very nice to drive.
Plus a damn site easier to fix if it does go wrong.
A Ti of course would be better still.... But try and find a good one!

There was a good Ti on ebay near me, and it was going for more than I wanted for my diesel ZT!

Typical, 1.8 turbos are 10 a plenty this time around, won this one yesterday and should be taking the train down to get it tomorrow:

I'll more than likely be stripping the ZT 190 to try and get back some of the whopping £620 it cost, keep the brakes to upgrade the new turbo with and keep the cams to upgrade the engine in the ZS that I'll probably rebuild in the summer. My Dad had expressed an interest in taking the ZT if I put another engine in it, but we'll see, its enough of an effort to rebuild one KV6 let alone two.

Re: Wanted: Coupe K16 or turbo, 620Ti or ZT 1.8 turbo
And roll on the issues with the new problem child, started taking a leak out fuel after filling it up and parking on an incline
They've taken out the ball bearing valve in the inlet and trollied about drilling holes in the thermostat, so the temp isn't stable at low revs and low throttle angles, coolant expansion tank cap is leaking, and the wiring has been messed with (though everything presently works). Still, compared to a trollied KV6 these are all very leisurely activities
Pulls like a train and pretty smoothly though

Yeah, emphasis on the SPECIAL! HG will need doing PROPERLY sooner or later by the looks of it, cam carrier sealed with RTV I just noticed, even the cam cover seems to have been glued on with RTV! The breather pipes don't have any clips on them so leak/pop off, all of the headlight bulb covers are missing, wheel arch liner access hatches are missing exposing the wiring, washer jets don't work (probably related to the wiring). I know how to pick'em!
