BRM (Damaged NOT RECORDED) NOW SOLD

Post by ti or not ti »

V plate

120,000 miles
6 Months Tax
7/8 Months MOT

Due to me not having the skills to repair, i'm having to list her.

We all know about the BRM and the differences it has over a R200 VI

Here we have a much loved one, slightly different from the rest, i'll explain how-

ENGINE
1.8K series VVC (145hp engine)
Due to a auto tensioner failure at 112,543 miles the following was done-
16 new lapped valves
New Belts (both VVC Belts)
New MANUAL tensioner
new head - polished and slightly ported
Lotus Elise Exhaust cam
New oil ladders fitted
New VVC mechs fitted and calibrated
Pistons re-skimmed
Bores/liners replaced.
New water pump fitted
Recon Starter moter
Coolant Change
This was done as i had the cash at the time (work bonus, when work gave bonuses!)
Since then i have
Changed oil (3 times) using Millers 10/40 and gen Rover filter
added a PiperX Viper Kit
Denso Iridium Plugs
Magnecor Leads
Replaced Gearbox oil with Gen Rover MTF94 oil @ 117k miles - gear change tight as ever.
MIJ Performance rear box with lifetime g'tee (available with car)

Chassis/Brakes
MG ZR 160 shocks and -35mm lowering springs (Avo i believe)
A couple of Polybushes
EBC discs and Green stuff pads (9-10k use)
Std BRM wheels, sprayed in Vauxhall Slate grey with Federal FK tyres (3 are 8,000 miles old 1 is 3 weeks old due to a puncture)

INTERIOR
Std BRM refinements - drivers seat has a bit of bolster wear, but apart from that in V Good Nick. Car also has trimmed A and B pillars with tweeters relocated to them (makes a huge difference). Air bag blank trimmed also and acoustic rear shelf.

EXTERIOR
Leon Cupra Splitter
DE-Wipered Rear
ZR 160 Rear Lights (with new seals so no leaks!)
De-oranged lights (actually now just a light!)

Apart from the obvious issues there was a dink in the drivers door and a scrape on the drivers wing mirror, was going to replace it but have been messed about with a door!

I can't stress enough how much of a transformation this car has undergone, i wanted one for ages and finally got one. After spending lots of cash on new cars - MGF, ZS 180, this was my comprimise with the missus after getting a house (tight cash).

I'm happy to answer any questions i would love someone to come and repair her and give her a better life than sitting in the garden here.

I have some histrory with the car and will be available after you purchase her HOWEVER NO WARRANTY IS OFFERED.

I will be removing my headunit, Ipod connector, sub and amp before the regrettable sale, but leaving the kenwood Components in the front doors.

Car starts and drives - i will have to refit the battery, but car can be heard running before purchase

I have a figure in my head of over £500 notes SERIOUS offers are welcome

Thread can be seen Pre-accident (not lowered at this point)

I would like offers around £600 but am willing to consider serious offers, not the old £200 and a mars bar plus a werthers original.

Certainly not tripe and onions mate - information is appriciated... the market for BRM's odd if you look across ebay, pistonheads, various MGR forums the conditions of damaged/not damaged cars is up and down.

hi mate think u will be breaking it! u will not get £600 for it

you can pick up a brm for 900 to 1k

i know its not recorded but insurance WILL wright it off

there will be chassis damage and will need pulling as the leg will have took impact 200 twist easy

it is not worth anyones money to save this car at 600 quid be looking more at 200-300 to save it if u dont wanna brake it as repair bill will be 700 plus

bonnet
wing
front pannel
headlight
bumper
pulling
front end re paint
odds and sods brackets etc

sorry mate just stating the ov but i dont think u will be selling it at that i work in repair trade but good luck :D

To be fair if i had 500 i'd pay it.

Few hundred quid sorting the problems and you got a tidy car. A lot of car for the money.

I know what people are saying etc with regards to not being worth it but these rover "enthusiasts" dont seem to be so enthusiastic about anything except making a quick quid!!

If it was a RS escort then it'd still be worth loads.

If its more money you are after then break it, you'll make more than £600 that way if you take you time selling stuff. You certainly wont get good money on here

i know what ur saying mate but to be fair would u pay 500-600 for it if it was gonna cost u 1k to fix it to a a good standard

so car now owes you 1600 quid that u will not make back as most brms going for less than a grand

if u got a series 1 rs escort for 500 quid get it mint can sell for 2-3k back on it
but prob sell rover for a loss
thats y they get broken as u can only make money back in parts its ashame im a rover enthusiast but im not gonna spend my hard earns on a car that would cost me a fortune to fix :?

I dont buy a car to even think about making a loss or not!

My BRM owes me more than what i'll sell it for now but that doesn't bother me, if it does me well over the time i have it then i'll see it as money well spent.

This one could be fixed for a few hundred quid if you do the work yourself.

Good luck with the sale

Appriciated or everyones thoughts and opinions, things are a bit odd at the moment -

No car
Moving house
Limited internet (until tmrw!!)

£400 notes will take her away as she is, after an afternoon of looking around i must admit £600 was optimistic at best.
