THE 27th TEESSIDE MEETING 20/11/2011

THE 11TH MEETING OF 2011
Image

Welcome

We are MG-ROVER - TEESSIDE, we organise the North East
Monthly Meet which is now called 'The TEESSIDE MEET'.

A little about us, the original Meet was set-up by Adam-MGTF, after
visiting the MERSEYSIDE Meet and seeing how popular it was he
decided it would be great to get a Meet going in his native area of Teesside and getting all the local and surrounding .org MG-ROVER owners together for there own Meet. He did a fantastic job getting
it off the ground, it started with small numbers but now has a great
following of local .org and non .org owners.

Due to work and University commitments Adam-MGTF handed over
the reigns for the Meets to sav-mg. To help get things going he
enlisted the help of the MERSEYSIDE and LONDON Meet Organiser
ROVER-25X (AKA - CHARLZY) to start the Meets afresh and have a
general re-branding to give us our own identity and logo just like the
MERSEYSIDE and LONDON Meets, we also now have a facebook
Group so we can all keep up to date with all the Meet dates and any
other events that are organised such as Track Days, DYNO/Rolling
Road Days and Runs.

ABOUT THE MEET

We are still searching for a Primary Meet location, this may take a
few months and the Meet being held in a different location for a
while but the hope is to have a perminant Meet location just like
the MERSEYSIDE MEET's primary locaton, The GAME BIRD.

This month we are having the Meet at The TALPORE which is a
BEEFEATER resturant, its on the same grounds as a PREMIER-INN
and has a fantastic sized Car Park.

The general plan for the Meets is to arrive at the designated
location for the time listed on this topic which is early in the
afternoon so that we can make a day of it and use the available daylight.

The Meet Rep will try to arrive first and find the most empty spaces
so we can all park together and weather permiting have a good chin
wag and chat about each others cars and take some pics, we usually
stay outside to greet anyone who has yet to arrive and we will not be hard to find all parked together, plus the Meet Rep owns a bright Yellow MGZS (BF52) so keep an eye out for it.

We shall always have the Meets at a Pub Resturants so that we can
all enjoy the food and plus if the Weather takes a turn for the worst
or if its the Winter Months there is always somewhere warm to sit,
plus the fact that we have access to Toilet facillities helps.

These Meets are Family Friendly and we make Spouses and
Girlfriends very welcome, we will do our best to cater for Members
with Children and try to make sure all the Locations have Baby
changing facilities.

There are quite a few .org Members in the TEESSIDE and surrounding
areas but if you know any other Members on .org who are unaware
of the Meet or if you have Friends or Family who own an MG-ROVER
then get them down to enjoy the company of like minded owners.

We have adopted the basic rules for the New Meet that are used by
the MERSEYSIDE and LONDON Meets this is to make sure we represent
MG-ROVER.org and MG-ROVER - TEESSIDE in a good manner.

When speaking to Sav yesterday I had a thought about this meet that instead of parking the cars in the winding carpark that backs onto the pub I was thinking of it moving so that we have something else to look at apart from Trees.

It's still on the same site but instead of crossing the Barrage at the roundabout instead of heading for the bridge take the next turning and then take the first left off that very short road onto navigation way that leads to the road where they launch the boats/jetski's. The only problem is there is a very small heighted speed bump that leads to the parking area. I have to take it careful to get over when I had the rear mudguards on. If you look on google maps you can just see the speed bump strip just as you come under the bridge.

I said I was going to mention it on here when I was speaking to Sav the other day.

Craig if you are coming down this weekend then I can show you so that you know how bad they are.

And to be fair he did say his reason for getting rid of it was because it needed an engine and that he also wanted something more reliable and safe for the kids.

I've volunteered to sort the next one out seeing as Sav is going to be away. I'll create a new thread in a day or so when I get time. It was mentioned that it will need bringing forward a week otherwise Christmas would get in the way.

Watch this space...

I think the reason he has mentioned speed bumps is because not because of the meet today but the last one I suggested to Sav that maybe the other road at the Barrage might be a better location for the meet just because there is more to look at instead of just bushes and our cars.

Basically when you get to the roundabout where you head over the bridge if you take the next turning off the roundabout the road drops down a slight hill and then if you turn left it takes you under the bridge where they launch the boats and it is a bit more of a nice view. The problem with that new location is that therer are two of the rubber speed bumps across the road. Nothing too serious but still something to mention for those scraping their backsides down the road
