TomCat turbo/216 GTI Dunlop race suspension
Just after and info if anyone has/knows! I want to get some coilovers ordered over Xmas for my Rover R8 I'm building to go circuit racing with just wondered if anyone knew spring rates of the original Rover coupe/gti Dunlop race cars to give me a rough starting point. Had a little nose on net doesn't seem must info about anymore, I'm probably going for AVO R2's which are supplied with there standard F250, R200 springs iirc unless you state otherwise which Imo is very weak.

I changed a lot of my zs suspension. Not quite the same but still good for the road (smooth ones).
I had 650 fronts and 450 rears.

you laugh but my roversport suspension is 1750 rear and 1000lb front . i had them measured .
is un useable on the road full stop . youd ruin the car within ten miles. im even tempted to ditch my roversport stuff and go for alot newer and softer springs . as i will mainly be runing the car on r88r etc
and yes the chassis does crack after a while hence the reinforcement plates in the main legs and the stich welding as per the roversport manual. even my road car n142 fdh . cracked in the main chassis legs even with avo coilovers on and 300 lb up front and 450 at the rear. no its in for a rebuild i am doing the reinforcement . but in hind site just shifting the stress else where .
matt who has my old car halfed them basically . and its still stiff.
but you forget the cars are designed to run slicks . and after a season or two they would proberbly just reshell the car anyway.

Thanks for that, I do run slicks on track but will have to run list tyres as per regs when get running. You know if you can still get the rover sport manual anywhere?edward22 wrote:JOHNDQ wrote:Think at that the chassis will crackThanks for reply

Re: TomCat turbo/216 GTI Dunlop race suspension
The Coupe suspension is different to the GTI racer, the GTI was lighter with a Honda engine.

Some plates on the bottom of the front turrett would be a good shout. Seen a few crack there.

Re: TomCat turbo/216 GTI Dunlop race suspension
Was there a triangular panel welded behind the front wing on the Coupe for the race cars?
