It's back

Post by alex2 »

After two and a half long weeks I finally got my car back. The car drives really nice now and the gearbox is really quiet. The only problem I've found is the clutch pedal and accelator pedal seem to be sort of catching against each other, but that was like it when it went in so I'll have a look at that tonight.

I see you about all the time but not when i'm in my car. Usually seems to be when i'm riding home from work. Have you got rovertech stickers on the rear side windows? There seems to be an ever incresing number of coupes floating round this area now.

Sorted the pedal problem. Just the car mats slipped up a bit and the pedals were just catching!

Yup... that'll be me then :D

You have a chance to read the stickers though? I need to drive faster... :|

Yeah, I've definatley noticed a lot more coupes appear on the last year. And 600s actually, I've seen a couple of lowered ones with 18s/19s recently. They looked gorgeous, dont think it's anyone off here though.

I dont think I've seen it, may have done though. I'll keep an eye out.

It's not got a colour coded grille has it? I pass a charcoal one most days down newgate lane with colour coded grille and upper rear spoiler.

Now yours is working though I may have more of chance of spotting it though, lol.

LOL, lets hope it stays that way.

No the grill on mine is still standard. I dont really use the car much during the day. I'm mostly about in it evenings and weekends - just a toy really. I dont bother taking it to work anymore, its quicker for me to ride a bike then drive now!! :o

Wow.. that'd be nice, a car for the weekends. Unfortunatley I use my car pretty much every day so it has to work, otherwise I'd have probably done more to mine.

I'm guessing I've passed you along newgate lane way? That road is always congested. Unfortunately I have to face it twice a day though as I work in pompey. Stupid peninsula....

Its not. I thought it was but it was just my car mat. It slipped forward a little bit and the edge of the clutch and accelerator pedals would just catch the edge of the mat.

I work in pompey (well southsea) too, I go over the ferry every day. Its quicker to get there and I save a fortune in petrol.

Wait a sec... you work in pompey and I pass you over there? You dont work near airport service road do you? That's where I work... near PC world.

In a strange horrible coincedence my car broke today. Stupid clutch has gone. Not sure exactly what's wrong, got some idea, but it's not driveable anyway. So... I may be riding over the ferry too. Unless I can con my mum out of her car in which case I'll be in a white 1.1 shitroen AX :(

I hate being towed. It was a bit of a nightmare last time I towed my car. I had one of those solid tow bars. The car that was towing me had a high tow hook and where my car was so low the bar was rubing on the bumper!

Have you found out exactly whats wrong yet?

Looks like I'm not going to have to be towed now :D

After a bit of investigation this evening I'm pretty sure it's just the clutch cable. I think it has stripped the adjustment thread so after a while it slips. I'll get another one tomorrow and replace it.

Drove the AX in today, my god that thing's slow. I couldn't be bothered to go above 60, was too much of an effort. Usually I get to decent speeds as soon as I join the motorway, today it took me a while to get to 60 and changing lanes with no power is not fun. I'd forgotten what it was like.
