Rover 75 1.8

Post by Chris200 »

My dad is seriously considering buying a 75 1.8 and asked for my thoughts and opinion. He test drove an emaculate example over the weekend.

Its 18months old, 14k on the clock and they want £6k for the car, which I think is a bit much, although it does come with a 2 year warranty.

Anyone know anything about this model and and issues?? Also you thoughts. I reckon he will be dissapointed with the power and performance after coming from a 2.0 Honda Accord.

Cheers
Chris

My dad went from a Honda powered 620 and the performance isn't as good, but it's only a slight difference, but the 75 isolates from the road so even high speeds can seem rather slow. I think they're 10.5 s 0-60mph which is respectable, and they'll cruise all day long on the motorway - he'll notice that it is more comfortable than an Accord over long distances.

With me commenting on performace, a 1.8i 75 is bound to feel slow after driving my 620ti! In normal terms the performance is good, but you sometimes have to really rev the 1.8 for overtaking. They handle superbly! Although it would be easy not to notice because they just seem to get on with things quietly with no fuss.

My dad's is a very comfortable, quiet car and I'd really rate. My dad's not had any problems with his and he's had it since the start of february last year - it's been superb car!

My dad had one for 18 months and he was really happy with it :)

Only niggle he had (and with my dad being a bit anal about these things, its the reason he sold it) was at 2500 RPM there was a slight buzzing from the dashboard, which he couldnt fix lol.

Other than that great car lol

The best part about them is you only need one fan to cool them on Dyno days. :P

That buzz is very common.
