How would the coke filter affect engine temps ?

Did you bleed it correctly ?

I never understand how people get airlocks ???
I've been working on cars since I was 15 (43 Now) and never airlocked a cooling system.
I've had to remove airlocks from loads of engine, due to people puttin g the caps back on the header tank/rad.

It's easy.
1. Fill it up with correct mix of coolant and water.
2. Run engine with cap OFF till the termostat opens and fans kick in, may take a while when its cold outside.

Make sure the heater is on hot, otherwise coolant wont flow around the system properly...

Think fluke may know how to take my after knowing me for so bloody long too so keep your bloody beak out of it eh ?

As you probably dont know the bleeding of the K series system is completely different to the above , hence i made a joke with Fluke. What is your problem ?

On a K series, he probably means the oil filler cap... that's where most of the coolant usually ends up at some point... :P

When you are as old as me you still remeber when cars never had expansion tank, just used to vent to air, total loss basically.
So "caps" refered to expansion or Radiator, not both.

Take it out drop it in a pan of water on teh stove, thermometer in pan, once water gets to around 88 degrees C stat should then start to open.
If you haven't got as thermometer boil kettle up drop stat in boiling water (obviously do it in something other than kettle otherwise your brew will taste odd  ) should open up, but make sure it opens fully tho, not just a bit :D

Its front left of engine, look for the big pipe coming from rad, goes to an ali bit with a 'hump' on it with 2 bolts on teh top, it's in there :) Oh and dont force the bolts if they're tight, alloy snaps well before the bolts do
