Post by dreaddan »

What if you won the lottery and didnt want the wife to find out (mines said she woudnt wanna know , and no I havnt ) what car would you get?

I currently have a mondeo TDCI so 1st off the bat would be a ST without the body kit.. and then see about a old S8 after getting a 'bonus' from work ;)

same car as I have now....

only it would spend a little time at a garage for some supremely expensive tuning and respray to make it look like new and lowered a little... sporting huge amounts of horsies and ridiculously high spec brakes, suspension, braces, fully stripped and rebuilt with near new everything etc etc

I'd have difficulty changing the car and the g/f not noticing tbh.

However I could probably get away with getting a turbo'd prelude H22, with the A7 head on in the ATR. A switchable map ECU and EBC so I could set it to uber low when she's driving so she wont notice.

Either that or buy something silly fast and park it round a mates house...

Are we talking the jackpot? Not just a tenner? :P

£1m doesn't go THAT far anymore so after I'd sorted family/friends/myself out, a *very* expensive car wouldn't be such a reality.

However, if I won £20m that may be a different story.

There would be a few cars in the fleet, I'm not sure exactly what they'd be but there would be a few categories:

- Big, showoff, obnoxious continent crosser car: Rolls Royce Phantom
Image

- Fast, highly capable legend: last of the aircooled. Porsche 993 GT2
Image

- For the music lover in me: (whoever thought a V8 could sound like that??!)
Image

- For the classic/old car lover in me. BMW 507:
Image

And of course:
- Keep the 420 turbo, do a full restoration and ~300bhp engine

I could go on...... and on and on.... but I'll be here all day with some justification or other for a whole host of cars.... :D

Lottery win (BIG win) Ferrari 430 / Murcialago LP 640 / New 911 Turbo / Ascari A10.
Any other kind of win which makes very nice things affordable - Ferrari 355 Berlinetta, TVR Cerbera, R34 GTR with some handy tweaks, Espirt 350 Sport.
Smaller win which just sorts things out a bit - 220GsiT/620ti ;)

Bugger, that'll teach me not to read and absorp the OP!
I guess the RR Phantom is out of the question then?

I'd have to go for one of these:

With a breathed-upon engine, of course. ~500bhp should do nicely. "It's just an old Audi, dear."

Either that or buy something silly fast and park it round a mates house...
Scrub that.

I think I'd probably buy an RS4 Estate, private plate to make it look older and try and convince her that it was a 1.8T S-Line.

Problem is she drives my car too, so I'm pretty sure she'd notice when she put her foot down. :drive:

I'd want to keep the ATR as well though, so I'd have to blag that I was running it on LPG and it was more economical than the saxo....

just get engine management with a hidden switch on any car to knock the performance down to super crap..then when you drive it's back to super horsie powers :D

E34 M5 or Audi S8/S4 for the win :)

Mondeo ST220's are nice cars mind you, looked into them before getting the MV6 :)

Id ither get the vitty restored and tweaked with 300 hp+ or get a zs 180 and tweak that.

No dear all these zs 180's are this fast

Unstealth well weve already disussed it and id be limited to 10 cars or id spend all the win on motors. lol

1st car id buy would probably have to be the new nissan gtr, then followed by a evo as the family run about , mk1 mini cooper (original mini, no bmw mini for me!) then well i could go on for ages
