Afternoon all,
I've got my PS3 set up to the network at home, and using TVersity i can access all my videos on the computer. I've just aquired some films which are in mkv format, reading from the net, i can use a program called mkv2vob to turn these into mpeg so that the PS3 can read them, which all works dandy.
When i go to play them on the PS3 i get loads of stuttering, the the film plays for about 3 seconds, pauses for half a second, plays for 3 pauses, etc etc, which makes it tottaly unwatcheable. Anyone got any ideas what this might be, and how i fix it.
Cheers
Ritchie

Got this one fixed, seems that you need to copy the larger files (these were practically 8gb mpegs) over to the PS3 before watching.
Now i get great picture quaility, now sound, just a really bad hiss/crackle. any ideas???
The sound works perfectly on any other file and or game, so i don't think its the leads, or TV set up.
Are there any other pieces of software to convert mvk to mpegs etc
Cheers

You got a ps3....
Fail.
Might be the audio demux or whatever it is.
I used Gotsent as they didnt touch the sound in the conversions so avoid sound issues, left then as AAC3 (or whatever is it) with mkv to mpeg4 in about 20mins for a 1.5 gig file.
TVversity I found with my Xbox very good at transcoding the mpeg4's, raw mkv though it just wont do it with a laptop as you can keep a decent buffer going on 720p in my experience.
