coupe turbo for sale
Well the time has come to sell my coupe after it breaking again and needing something more reliable, the basic problem with the car is it overheats, was changing the water pump when the bolts decided to snap rather than undo http://www.rovertech.net/forum/posting. ... =post&f=36# the car ran fine before this, it hasn't mixed coolant with oil so im sure its not the headgasket, that me and roger32 of here had replaced with a klinger just over 10,000 miles ago. the car has 92,000 on it, a cat back exhaust system cant remember the name, front mount intercooler, samco coolant hoses, steel caged gearbox with 620ti final gear ratio, battery to boot conversion, mg zs front brakes, slim line fans lowered & i have a set of 5 compomotive alloys 4 in black with new toyo tyres, its got 1 months tax left and mot'd till next year, im open to offers on it really, if you need more info pm me, cheers tim

Re: coupe turbo for sale
my water pump went and the car subsequently overheated to shutdown point 4 times after that, compression is spot on and it hasn't leaked water or oil ever.speedx wrote:have you done a compression test dude? when mine went it warped the head!

Perhaps I was lucky as ally heads can warp pretty easy mind.
Just don't think the guy should panic yet

im not panicing but i need to sell the car gimme a offer and ill let you know

Re: coupe turbo for sale
Been away from the scene for quite a while but I'm pretty certain to check if it is the water pump thats gone is you simply run the car with the expansion tank lid off and see if the water is returning to the tank. If its not then the pump has gone.
If this had come up a week or so ago, I'd be making you an offer!!! Dam.
A ball park figure really would help. There must be a number you have in mind??

YGPM, bit far for me mind but looks good and need something to work on!
Re: coupe turbo for sale
dunno about that sam...can't remember if water is returned to expansion by pump all the time or just after fans kick in when thermostat reaches temp....sam w wrote:Been away from the scene for quite a while but I'm pretty certain to check if it is the water pump thats gone is you simply run the car with the expansion tank lid off and see if the water is returning to the tank. when mine went it was the seals that had gone..once the car was warm the surfaces expanded and mated so you couldn't detect a problem.
when it cooled down...often you've left the car at this point for a bit...the seals would contract again and it would sneakily lose a few litres of water.
You'd get back to the car (in rainy weather you had no clue at all) drive off and wonder why it was overheating and had lost water

Pretty certain the water flows regardless of the fans being on or not though.

This has defo come up before in convo - 'cos my car, my brothers and everyone elses at the 'Ring (as I had to ask their opinion) circulates back to the expansion tank no matter whether stat is open or closed.sam w wrote:My knowledge is deffo a little rusty then!! Stat opens, and it flows through the rad as well as everywhere else.
