I'm intending to let this run for a month to give people plenty of time to see it, so the closing date is Friday 21st November. Please aim to be fully paid up by this date too, I will give people a nudge on the Monday beforehand! Order will be placed on Monday 24th and I expect to have them by Friday 28th. My first opportunity to post them out will be Wednesday 3rd December, so they'll make a nice xmas present!

Received the order around half 4 this afternoon so haven't been able to post them out But they're all packaged up and ready to go so I'll be down the post office tomorrow and sending them off first class.
You will probably notice that they're in two halves, split down the centre line of the middle bolt hole. This is supposedly to make them easier to fit, although I can't see it making THAT much difference! It's certainly made them easier to package anyway There was more info at the bottom of the invoice, here is a screenshot so you're all aware:

Am I rite in thinking that I just fit the thermal inlet gasket as is,
So there's no need in removing the paper gasket either side? Just fit it how it comes without any need for a oe gasket?

As for the manifold I have a foil type and one with fire rings so unsure which route to take but thinking of going with the the fire rings one, am I rite in thinking that manifold gasket fits to the manifold then the thermal gasket then a bead of sealent?

Is anyone going to use sealent or just tighten it up without any? If using sealent which would be best as the manifold gets silly hot and not sure what's upto the job of sealing correctly

As far as I can tell...

Remove inlet manifold,
Remove any traces of OE gasket from head & manifold faces,
Fit the thermal inlet gasket as it comes out of the packaging - do not remove the paper coating from either side,
Refit manifold.

Should the joint ever be disturbed again, it's then that you'll need to remove the paper coating from each side of the thermal gasket, then use an OE gasket on either side of it again when you reassemble. It's the paper material that actually forms the seal.

As for the exhaust, I just Googled high temperature RTV and got a few results, this one on ebay being one of them, says it's suitable for exhaust manifolds on the packaging. I'll be using some sealant if that's what Ferriday has advised.

Remove exhaust manifold,
Remove traces of OE gasket from head & manifold faces,
Apply high-temp RTV to one side of thermal plate and fit this side to head,
Fit OE gasket (I'll be using the fire-ringed type),
Refit exhaust manifold.

Studs & nuts are going to pretty much be a necessity over bolts! Don't forget that the purpose of the thermal exhaust plate is to keep the heat of the exhaust manifold away from the head. So the RTV isn't going to be exposed to horrifically high temperatures in theory

Got these today Mitus

Going to get them fitted tomorrow with a bit of luck
Iv got some copper based sealent it's ment to be good upto 350 C so hoping this will do the trick,

Having recived both the thermal gaskets I fitted my manifold one today, a little bead of gasket paste went on the thermal gasket which sealed to the head then them manifold gasket it's self,

Iv always had trouble with my manifold sealing properly,
iv fitted studs and lock nuts and gone as tight as i dare and I still get the slight tick which upsets me but can't think of anything else to do, iv fit the gbe gasket which isn't the foil type, it has the fire rings, so at a bit of a loss, I guess it's as good as i can do so just going to have to see what avails,

I havnt had it upto temperature as yet, iv had one before where I got a slight tick when just started but once warm it seemed to disappear so time will tell

The flange on exhaust manifold is possibly warped may need machining

That was the case when I got the manifold made Marty

Iv had it "machined" twice now and although it look and seems Al right it must still be uneven,

The dreaded tick seems to come from underneath so it may be that it's not sealing properly on the underside

Rite royal pain, will see how it goes for now but think I'm going to be looking for a new manifold and turbo setup for next year at somepoint , I hear amw have designed a new one so will have to do some saving up,

GBE gave a nice looking one but it's silly money so will make doo for now

I'm sick of pulling it off to put it back on to face the same ordeal

Having a cry over it isn't going to help so not going to dwell on it just hopefully won't get painfully worse but that's generally the case as soon as they desided to start going...I genre lly try to take care of them knowing there a known week spot and go gentle Once just started up, damn pain in the neck
